For Aspire 5100
follow this step.
from backside
1. remove battery
2. remove hard drive cover and hard drive
3. remove the thermal cover, remove wireless card and antena cable.

frontside.
1. remove the power button cover.
2. remove keyboard.
3. remove lcd cable, wireless antena.
4. remove the lcd screw (2 long screw and 2 short screw)
5. remove the lcd screw from the back side (2 short screw).
now the lcd is separated from laptop body.

from backside again,
1. remove fan, there are 2 screw that hold the fan
2. remove heatsink (4 very short screw)
3. remove all screws from backside, there is 1 screw hidden "under" heatsink. it's short scew (longer than heatsink screw).

from frontside, remove 2 screw on top part of the laptop body.
and than you can remove the uppercase now.

after you remove the uppercase, remove 2 screw that hold modem, and remove 1 screw (very short) on bottom part, it's close to touchpad button. remove power switch board and modem and then remove the speaker cable and mic cable.
that's all you can take out the motherboard.

note: just remember to use the correct screw when you put it back.

i hope this will help.

Acer 4320 won't power up

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:
Possible causes:

1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test your acer travelmate 4320 ac adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

I'm assuming this a laptop computer and you are having problems with the AC power adapter jack. This is quite common. Often the solder connections securing the jack to the circuit board inside the computer crack, or the contact lugs on the jack itself break. If the problem is a cracked solder connection, the fix is a simple resoldering job (the primary expense is labor to get the board out for repairs). If the jack is broken, it can be replaced - it will be about the same as resoldering plus about $1-$5 for the part.

Sometimes the problem is a broken wire right at the plug on the AC adapter. If it is a standard plug, that can be replaced. If it is an unusual custom plug, you're stuck with replacing the adapter.

To prevent this problem in the future, always hold the plug when you remove it from the computer (never yank on the wire), be sure you insert it straight into the jack when you plug it in, and avoid off-axis stresses on the plug or the cable near the plug.

How to replace dc power jack for toshiba p15

Take apart laptop and see what type of jack is on your system. There are two types. one is soldered on and the other is a module that connects to the motherboard with a wire connector.

If you have a soldered on type the you will need to de-solder it from the board then solder a new one onto the board. most ac jack issue just need to resolder it unless the jack itself is broken.

A bad connection between the power jack and the

What needs to happen is on the motherboard underneath the power jack, there are solder points that have hairline cracks in them. The best way to fix it is to remove the motherboard from the laptop and to resolder all the solder points for the power jack.

Once you do this then the power should stay on cause wiggling the power cord won't cause the laptop to turn off.

Ac adapter sometimes works for a few seconds not at all

It most likely has some broken solder connections on the jack. Unless you have soldering equipment there is nothing you can do yourself except to take it to a repair center. If you tell them that the A/C adaptor jack has some broken connections that need to be resoldered, they may give you a break on the normal repair cost since this is not a big job. It just requires the right tools. If you have the soldering equipment you can take it apart and resolder those connections on the jack yourself.

Worn power connection

Well, if it's just the soldering points that are weaking then you don't need a new one. Just resolder those points (probably won't even take any extra solder but i would recommend giving it a little more so it doesn't just break again) and you should be fine. If the actual jack is damaged then you'll have to replace it. No real ease here, though, as you'll have to take the laptop apart either way.
