High pitch noise

A high pitch noise comes from the back of the television now and then. If I rap the top or side of the tv it stops momentarily. It seems to be happening more frequently.

What would you expect the cost of replacing the flyback transformer to be?

The high pitch noise is most likely produce in the flyback transformer due to loose windings inside it, so when you move it or tap it on top; the high pitch noise stops momentarily.
The only way to fix it, will be replacing the defective component. I would suggest to take it to a repair center because you will be exposing yourself to high voltage and need to be be careful when working around it.
If the noise is being produce by the picture tube, is not worthy to fix the TV as the price for a new CRT is very high and you may as well buy another TV.

A reasonable cost for a repair is about 1/3 of what you paid for the TV. Depending how old is the TV, you may want to consider the cost of the repair because pictures tubes have a life expectancy of about 8 years.

Hope this helps you to make a decision.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your issue, let me see if I can help.

What type of tv is this? tube or flat panel? If tube, have you recently moved it and shook it up a little?
If panel, are you using an hdmi hookup or just regular cable from a cable box?

Be sure that your hookups are on tightly and that your cables are not tangled as well especially hdmi cable. Let me know if any of this is helpful in solving your issue or if I can be of more assistance. Once you respond I can help more, just need more information..

Thanks,
d

High pitch sound coming from circuit board, cannot

First, you will want to isolate the problem. Is it feedback from an AC outlet you have it plugged into? Is it a recent noise that just started with no changes to Tv or its environment, then you may want to consider that a circuit is going and decide if it is worth repairing, You should find that type of fix at a shop for under $100

High pitch noise from the flyback

You can tell to some extent what it may be by listening carefully and trying to identify the location. If you, remove the back cover of the set; stay away from danger, just listen to where it seems like the sound is coming from. If it is coming from inside the high voltage cage it is the flyback. If coming from around the main power transformer it is one of the power supply parts.

Sanyo tv making high pitch noise from loose cable connector

The noise is coming from the fly-back transformer. By moving the cable connector you move the main board. Unplug the TV and remove the back. The transformer has a red wire going to a rubber cup at the top of the picture tube. Looking at the transformer you will see a dough nut shape with a metal piece going through it .. Drive some tooth picks between the dough nut and the metal core. That should reduce or stop the ringing.

Weird noise over everything

According to the Samsung website: "The high pitched sound you hear is probably coming from the flyback transformer. The flyback transformer converts the relatively low voltage electricity that comes from the outlet in your home to the high voltage electricity needed to drive the cathode ray tube in your TV. It is not unusual for a flyback transformer to buzz softly when it operates. However, if the sound is loud and high pitched, it probably means the transformer is failing. To eliminate the sound, you will have to get your TV serviced."

most high pitch noise comes from the anode conection on the picture tube thats connected to the flyback anode cap thats mean there is a high voltage leak,to stop the noise you can discharge the high voltage take off the cap and clean with alcohol.if the noise continue.you will have to put some red or clear silicone both the cap and tube stick together leave to dry for about 2 to 4 hrs.this will eliminate the leaking.good luck.

High pitch noise

what you are hearing is the mechanical vibrating of coils & or transformers in the tv. 1st and easyest is to hot glue the parts that is making the noise down. if that does not work, removing & reinstalling the part is next. the last is replacement. the most likely parts causing is the 1. horizontal linearity coil, 2. the run or switch mode transformer, or 3. the flyback transformer. good luck.
