Press power botton power light flashes a few times then nothing
replaced the red PCB and converg board with NEW parts, TV turned on for a min, long enough for me to start the perfect focus deal. went to 4% and got stuck, so i turned off the TV . turned it back on and now the light flashes but nothing happens. when you normally turn on the set it clicks,, well theres no click now and no little tones from the speakers , but you can hear something actually charge (for lack of the actual term) then nothing , if you unplug it and hit the power button it goes BEWWET.. then its silent once again. i was really hoping to just replace the STK board and red PCB that caused all the problems to start with, and was pleased that it didnt explode when i was done installing the new parts , but now i need help with this new issue. Josh
ok i am GREEEN GREEN to tv repair, and i will not attempt something im not confident in trying, that being said. are the pico fuses being "open" meaning to test with a DVoM or is there a way to visually check them? aside from the normal black soot and stench of electronic failure. and this blue stuff you speak about? where might that be located? Josh PS. thanks for your fast answer :) ok i am GREEEN GREEN to tv repair, and i will not attempt something im not confident in trying, that being said. are the pico fuses being "open" meaning to test with a DVoM or is there a way to visually check them? aside from the normal black soot and stench of electronic failure. and this blue stuff you speak about? where might that be located? ok i read on another post about unplugging the convergence board to get the set on, i did this , and when i did the set fired up and looked GREAT except that the convergence was all misaligned, but it was a uniform misalignment. so i looked through the menu that you mentioned and could not find factory reset in ANY menus at all. i then plugged back in the convergence board and started up the set again and same thing ,, just a flashing light and no picture at all. (hope this helps) so that being said im HOPING this is a simple common problem that everyone but me has seen and the fix is as simple as me:) Is there a plug i can pull on the board(S) that would revert this back to factory settings? kinda like a motherboard jumper resetting the bios? Check the convergance board for open pico fuses located near the stk amps if they are open the you may have a yolk problem as well. also check the blue gum for cloudy fluid this may be the reason the perfect focus got stuck. if you should get the tv to fire up go to the menu then select reset factory in the convergance menu of the customer menu. this will pull the convegance back to tollorance. the trouble is that when the convegance amps fail customers tend to perfect focus the set and each time they do the convegance memory goes further from tollorance. thus failing the ICs once again. check the pico fuses 1st this is a tell tail sign of those two conditions (yolk, or out of tollorance).
since you unpluged the convergance board and the set fired up replace the convergance board once again. I ment the blue gun (big fingers small keys). there is a fluid inside the gun itself this keeps the gun cool. often the fluid gets cloudy mostly in the blue gun (crt assembly). if you look directly into the gun with the set off you should see the face of the CRT clearly if not the coolant needs to be replaced. if the menu has a manual convergance setting (1st unplug the convergance board as you did) start to adjust one of the colors then stop and go back to the manual settings, it has a "save new setting" option and "reset factory" option choose this option before replacing the convegance board again.since you unpluged the convergance board and the set fired up replace the convergance board once again. Ur power board have dead capacitors.U Know how to solders?Take the tv aparts, check these capacitors in the power board for dead capcitors like puff up or burst open.Replaced these capacitors to get power back.Or buy and replaced the whole reburbish power board at Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com.
Have you replaced any of the resistors? RK42 3.3ohms /RK46 1.8 RK50 2.7 / RK54 1.5 / RK58 3.9 / RK62 2.2 ,ALSO remove front cover on TV looking at front of chassis is a button on board that has ICs/ press and hold for 3 secs with TV on ,then up should be convergence Pattern for alinement.
Your problem could be the Convergence board is loading down the power supplies and will not let the TV set come on, or the power/deflection board, part number AA94-08574A, or the STR type regulator IC, part numberAA13-00105A. If you locate the convergence board, unplug the connectors, and see if the set will come on. if the set does come on, replace both of the STK convergence IC's at once. The part numbers for those IC's are STK392-40. You can get the original replacement IC's from MCM electronics for about 15 to 16 bucks a piece. Do not use the less expensive STK IC's as they are not the same. the replacement IC's should have the name of SANYO printed right on the face of the IC's. Good Luck
check the resistors near the stk's. There are some reports that they get fried when the stk's fry....or the other way around. The resistor ratings are labeled on the resistors. 2.2, 82, 180 or something like that. Also check the board as you turn on the tv. See if any glow red.
wont turn on red light just flashes? On my samsung flat screen tv when you are watching the televison there is no red light on the power button but when you turn the television off the red light stays on all the time? what can I do to turn this light off?
replace the convergence board. you can get it from VanceBaldwin.com. The part number is BP95-00142E. Easy install. You can test this TV before you buy the part.
If you take off the lower back of the TV, you'll see the board mounted near the middle of the TV on the right. On mine the power connector is red. Unplug that connector, replug in the TV and turn it on. It should come on, but the picture will be a mess as the tubes won't converge (obviously).
Plug in the new board, and keep right on going... $78 delivered. Took three days.
same problem , goes in to safety mode to prevent any more damage to the set. tech was able to get a picture colours all over the place replaced conversion parts on board went fine for 2 weeks then the same would not turn on , came on by its self colours all over the place smelt burning . back to square one.
Tech arrives again today doesn't look good this a $8500 tv
4 years ago and i'll have to pay the tip fee.
Samsung 165cm rear projection tv.good luck
I had the same problem with the 47" version. I called the Sears technician who tried for more than an hour to fix the problem, even calling Panasonic. Final solution: a board repair for $550. Now I have a plasma and a big desk.
I had the same red blinking led problem on my Toshiba Theaterview tv. I resolved by: - Unplugging the tv. - Press several times (3 or 4 times) the tv Power button. - Plug the tv back in and press the Power button once to turn the tv on....tv worked!!!
I've had the problem before and tried unplugging the tv for a couple of days and that had also worked, but I this recent solution seems to be faster. Good luck! Erick
