Had my Multifunction for 1 year, awesome performance, until today, started having "Unable to init 46" Error message on the LCD. Tried opening/closing cartridge and top covers, changing cartridges, tuning off and on, reciclyng my LAN, also Factory Resetting via the Menu. No luck. Not able to print nor scan. Urgent solution required...any comments? Thanks in advance!!

Try doing an NvRam on the printer (Hard Reset): 1. Turn the printer off 2. Press and hold the right arrow and the cancel button 3. Turn the printer on while still holding those buttons 4. Keep holding them until you see a message that say "permanent storage init"
Your Ink Absorber box is full. The machine cleans its print nozzles by blasting them out with ink; it collects that waste ink and pumps it into a plastic box filled with thick, felt pads. After a certain number of cleaning operations, it decides it's not safe to squirt more ink into the box and gives this Error 46. Replacing the ink absorber box and flushing box and resetting the purge counter is fairly complex. Maybe someone has instructions all typed out, but your best bet is probably to take it to a Brother tech.
1) TRY to flash the firmware. 2) Try cold reset and disk initializations. 3) Replace firmware dimm.
If you have a hard disk:
To resolve the issue it may be necessary to perform the Disk Init procedure.
Disk Init Procedure 1. Turn the printer off, then on 2. When the memory count starts on the control Panel, press and hold the Menu button until all 3 lights on the control panel are lid 3. Press the < button. The message “INITIALIZE DISK” appears in the display 4. Press the Check button. The printer will initialize the User space on the Compact flash and will continue it’s power-on sequence.
