Re: can recieve well, sends all black
The scanner is not receiving light. That is either because paper is covering the scanner, or the scanner light source is not working. In this case, make sure the connections are in place, if so, replace the scanner.

Is it when u send or recieve faxes! If on sending(open the part where u put in the faxes to sent!U will see a big black roller and under that a small black one, undeer that a long strip of glass, make sure that there's no marks of any kind on the glass! If recieving it might be on the fax that is sending the fax!Good Luck!
Try sending a fax to someone else and see if it does the same thing.!
If your sending a 14" page to someone who only has 11" paper in the machine....the machine can only do one of 2 things...reduce the 14" page to fit on 11" paper "OR" print 11" on 1 page then the 3" on the second page....this setting is controlled by the rxing machine.
this is just the transition speed and line condition and you dont have to worry about it , the machine will give you an error code if the faxes dont go through alturnativly contact the reciever of the fax to check that they have recieved it
Is sounds like your exposure lamp is not coming on, put an original in the machine and make a copy, if you look where the original is coming out, you should be able to see a light illuminatig the original so the scanner can read the image. If this lamp is not coming on you will get a very dark to black image.
If it is just locked up is may be as easy as this. Turn off and unplug the machine for a couple of minutes, reconnect and power up the machine, make a copy. as the machins uses the same parts to copy you should see the result of your efforts.
If the copy look good, try a test fax to someone, and call them for confirmation.
If this doesn't fix the problem, then I suspect the exposure lamp unit has failed.
If you sending the fax over the memory, fax can scann doc. while dialing, or in the same time, but if you sending directly (on-hook dial) fax is sending the document while beeing reeded.
You may try to check the phone lines, browse the documents before sending, clean the original document feed rollers,...
if fax sudenly stops and wrinkle the orig. documents there is problem in scanner area
