Ok so it looks like the on/off button is not obvious.
Look on the left or right of the laptop and you may see a small flat switch that will shutdown your laptop. Slide it forward or backward see what happens.
Failing that (I presume its windows) click on start-->shutdown.
You should get a box that gives you options to shutdown, sleep, hibernate, resatrt etc.
Let me know how you get on.

How to reset settings

A persistent operating system error on your Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop requires more than just a system restore as there is a problem with a driver that a system restore cannot correct.

A full factory reset of the laptop wipes the hard drive clear of all data including existing driver settings and programs and installs the original operating system back to the hard drive.

Once cleared, previous computer files and programs are non-recoverable.

Press "Power" on the Inspiron 1525, and continuously press "F8" on the keyboard when the Dell logo appears on the laptop's screen.

Press the down arrow to highlight "Repair Your Computer," and press "Enter" to select the highlighted onscreen option.

Click your preferred keyboard layout, and click "Next" to continue with the laptop's restoration process.

Type "administrator" in the username field, click "OK" and click "Dell Factory Tools."

Click "Dell Factory Image Restore," and click "Next." Click the checkbox next to the hard drive reformat confirmation, and click "Next."

Click "Finish" to reboot the OS after the restore process finishes, which can take up to 10 minutes.

Hope this helps.

Restore laptop to factory settings

you can restore it by inserting the Reset Disk to re-install the OS;
you can insert the manufacturer's disk to reset to Factory Settings;

you can turn off/ reboot your pc, press f8/12 before Windows logo and see the settings you need.

On Windows 8, go to Charms, choose Settings, open your PC settings, see Recovery, choose one of the given options.

Hope it helps!

P.S. I like questions like yours because you made a normal title. But please, describe your problem in the Problem box next time. Thanks!

How can i reboot my computer please

Rebooting a computer means, pressing the Reset/Restart button. But if you wish to securely restart it, click Start (Windows XP) and then "ShutDown" button, again click "Restart". There's another option when Windows XP is in Classic mode, once you press the Shutdown button, you'll see a small window showing "Shutdown", you can click the arrow button next to the "Shutdown" and then select "Restart", now click the "Ok" button to restart the system. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, click "Start", if you don't see the "Restart" button, you might be seeing the "Shutdown" button, just next to the "Shutdown" button, there's a small right arrow button, click it and select "Restart". Your system will restart.
Let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.

Everytime I open My G62 laptop after a few minutes \it will hang.I want to reformat it..How will I do the reformatting?

Hi and Welcome to Fixya!

I would not really recommend a format if the issue with your machine is hang. You can try though to just reset the machine to its original settings. Here's how it works:

1. Reboot, and repeatedly press F10 at the HP logo until the recovery screen appears.
2. When the recovery screen appears, press "Next" and then "Yes" to perform a non-destructive recovery (all data saved). After the recovery is finished, the laptop will reboot.

Or to perform a destructive recovery, (***This will erase all your unsaved data!***)
Click "Advanced" and then "Yes".
After the recovery is finished, the laptop will reboot.

Reboot, and repeatedly press F11. Follow on screen prompts.

Hope this helps!

How do i make my toshiba laptop reset

Resetting your Toshiba Laptop will erase all the saved file in your hard drive. If you really want to reset your Laptop just follow this steps.
  1. First, save all the important files that is saved in your laptop to a flash drive or a external hard drive, cause as you know the reset process will erase all of these so you may want to make a backup copy of your important files.
  2. Next, Reboot your computer and wait for the Toshiba Logo to appear.
  3. Once the Toshiba Logo appear, press any of this, "0" or "F1" or "F8", this must display the hard disk utility menu.
  4. When your at the Hard Disk Utility Menu, Press 1 or click on the "Restore Original Factory Image. and click "Yes"
  5. Click Next to start the Restoration.
  6. Once the restoration is finished, Reboot your Laptop and follow the prompts that appears.
  7. Once you finished the setup, Transfer the backup files that you have saved in Step 1. and your Done.
