My DS will not play DS games ,but it will play gameboy games

Your DS cartridge reader is faulty. Unless you know how to take the DS apart and replace the reader by soldering, you should just buy a new one.

As far as i know ds lites will play ds games (in the back) and gameboy advance games (in the front) the gameboy advance slot usually has a cover on it you pull off.....If its not working all the time buy some compressed air in a can and blow out where the games go....hope this helps.

other option would be to attemt to make sure your games are clean and the slot for the ds games is clean as well.

Because gameboy advanced games were not configed to work for touch screen.
