2009 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster. Can I put new slip on pipes on without changeing any thing else

That's hard to say. A motorcycle engine is finely tuned system. If you change one thing, that changes something else. It is possible that you may not have to change anything. Then again, you may have to rejet the carburetor. As they come from the factory, the carburetor is jetted very lean in order to meet EPA emissions standards. The free-flowing mufflers will probably make it run even leaner. Rejetting the carburetor is not very expensive but the labor to have it done could be. Just go to the next size slow speed jet and adjust the idle mixture screw. Those "DynoJet Kits" are a rip off.

Good Luck

I have a 2006 road king classic and got samson 2 inch drag pipes slip ons with no baffles will it hurt the motor to run them with out the baffles

No it won't hurt anything as long as your pipes are long enough. If they're way too short, you'll burn your exhaust valves up. As long as the pipes reach at least the front of the rear wheel, you should be fine running it straight piped. It'll make her sound good too. You'll be pleased with the sound change

Have 07 xl1200c sportster how can i make exhaust louder have standard pipes on dont want it to loud just more of a deep thud money tight dont want to keep with original pipes for now

Screamin Eagle mufflers work well. I've been running a set on a Dyna Wide Glide for years. They're not as loud as straight pipes. They come with removable baffles, I think. It's been years since I've mess with them but they used to. Also, some pipe manufacturers made "slip on" muffler replacements. They're much better for performance too as they present the engine with a bit of backpressure that the drag pipes do not.

Good luck

I put drag pipes on,now crank position sensor

There is no adjustment to the valves on your Evo Sportster. The tappets are self adjusting hydraulics unless someone has changed them. Take a look at you pushrod tubes, are they should be one-piece tubes.

Sorry but I cannot explain why your crank sensor keeps giving trouble. I know nothing of the electronics on the newer bikes. But I do know that the last Sportster that used solid tappets was the 1985 model Ironhead. All Sportsters since have hydraulic tappets and require no adjusting.

Starter removal

It's quite a process to remove a starter on a sportster. I changed one for my friend on his 03 sportster. You have to take alot of stuff off to get to the bolts that hold it on. Can I suggest getting a service manual for the bike. Trust me it's worth its weight in gold. I've done alot of work on my sportster and my friends sportster and would never attempt anything without the book. As far as the starter, From what I remember, I had to remove the exhaust pipes then the primary cover, and I'm sure there were more parts, but you need to know what gaskets you will need to replace. Good Luck. And go get the book. I got mine at Barnes and Noble. and my friend got his at the Harley dealer. Have fun.
