Question about Lexmark 2480 Matrix Printer

Will only print jibberish - Hard time communicating

Hello Geniuses! God I hope one of you can help me!

I have a Lexmark Matrix 2480-100 - I have been through hell with this printer. My company prints Postal Tray and Sack Tags. They are basic, front-feeding strips of tags that are 3" x 1" or 1.5" x 1".

We had a 2380, very similar that crapped out on us for the exact same reason! Just started printing what looks like some alien language, and we bought this one. I have tried to connect this printer via every single USB Port, Via Parallel.. I have tried to install it on a 98 Box, and on my XP Box.

I have called Lexmark and gone through every possible driver: Lexmark drivers.. They even had me try it on other manufacturers drivers (on the XP).

Every single time I either uninstall/re-install, or simply change the port/driver I try to print a test page and it immediately tells me that the document failed to print in the task bar.

I am wide open to ANY suggestions. Can anybody help me?

My printer will not print. I can scan images but nothing happens when I go to print a document. There is no box that comes up that states there is a problem.

Your firewall could be blocking the print communication. The article below will guide you on how to allow full access to all Lexmark software and printer communication processes in the program rules/permissions for your firewall.

Printer is printing jibberish = looks like a lot of "f"s underlined.

Try to turn the printer off and then on again. If that does not clear it you need to re-install the driver, the driver may be corrupt.

Okidata 320 turbo microline prints jibberish

sounds like a job was sent to the printer with the wrong driver. There is no way to purge it just load some paper and let it run until it stops. They make sure your emulation matches the driver youa are using. Example Epson 9pin compatiable or OKI ML320 Turbo-IBM drive you want the emulation set to Epson FX. Or if using the OKI ML320 Drive you want the emulation set to ML.

Lexmark X2470 printer wont print/connect time executable stopped

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

I just put new ink Cartridges but still wont print

Hello,

Most of the time the "problem communicating with the printer" message pops up on Lexmark X1185 series when the driver gets corrupted. The best fix for this issue would be to uninstall the software first. Try connecting the USB to a different USB port (Please avoid using USB hubs, if any) and then reinstall the software. This should normally fix the printer communication issues!

Good Luck

Hello babytenbucks,
I can help you setup your Okidata 320 printer.
Connect the printer to the printer port coming off the motherboard. Usually it's colored pink. Also known as LPT1.
If your operating system is Win XP do this. Open Control panel, open Printer & Faxes. Click File, Add new printer.
Uncheck, automatically detect & install my plug & play printer.
Click Next. Allow it to use LPT1. Click next.
There are two windows here. On the left is Manufacture on the right is Printers. Scroll through Manufacture till you find
Okidata. Under Printer, scroll down till you see Okidata ML 320 Turbo/D (IBM), click next. You can give it a new name or leave it as is. Make the 320 the default printer. You can let it print a test page. Either way re-start the system. Try another test page.
Click the link below for a .pdf file which is the manual for your
Okidata 320 Turbo.

If you do not have Adobe's pdf reader download it from the next link.

babytenbucks, if your still have any trouble please just post back & we'll get it solved.
Good day!
