I looked through the manual and didn't see anything either. I assume that you are hitting the TV/DVD button and setting it to DVD when you want to use the DVD. Does the remote do anything besides turn the TV on (change channels, etc.)? Hope this helps and good luck!
there is an auto search method....some remotes you can hold the tv button down and then the select button simultanteously for a few seconds to make the light turn red and then proceed with codes, when you get the right code you press the select button again, the light blinks and you are done..... well with out a code its the luck of the draw..... the auto search method is similar to programming the code in....hold the tv button and the select button for a couple seconds until the tv button lights up, but instead of a code.....press the channel up button(that represents the first autosearch code), continue until the tv turns itself off and then press the select button to lock it into the remote...........if you go past the trigger point you can channel down to backtrack.... otherwise drop it in the toilet until it wont work, call the cable company and have them send out a tech with anew remote. they cant charge you for their equipment not working correctly. trust me, i am a supervisor at a major cable company.
Sounds like a tact switch problem at the front of the set. The switches are just behind the front panel buttons. Don't replace just one. Replace them all. They are not expensive and will avoid trouble later. If one switch is getting stuck internally, nothing else will work including the remote.
If you have a cox cable digital cable remote, hit info to turn off the video 1 or 2. Judjing that this is a cox cable remote, and not a sony trinitron remote, other remotes that have some kind of programmable function built in can proly turn turn that off
According to the Samsung website, this is the method to reset the Vchip PIN.
1. Turn TV on. 2. Press power button on the remote, TV will turn off. 3. Press Mute on the remote. 4. Using the remote, press the buttons 8, then 2, then 4 5. Press the power button, TV should turn on.
At this point the PIN should be reset to four zeros.
If that doesn't work, you could have someone mess with the internal circuits as someone else posted, but I wouldn't recommend trying it yourself.
Or you could call the Samsung tech support hotline at 1-800-726-7864. Never tried it so I don't know how good their customer support is.
