Hi,

Many possibilities a Tv can shut down by itself. Check whether remote control timer is activate or not. If not, you've to get a Tv tech to troubleshoot the problem......

When i try to turn the tv on the little red light on front of the tv turns on and the tv makes a sound but before even showing any image the tv turns off itself and it keeps turning on and off on its own.

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

My Phillips Tv keeps turning itself off after around a minute, the power button remians on and green but no picture or sound. It is like the fuse keeps tripping. If you unplug the tv and switch it back on...

The main power supply is trying to fail. You might try giving us the model number since we can't guess exactly what kind of TV you have; LCD or plasma?? They suffer from some differing ills-

Tv turns itself off . you could turn it on & immediately turns itself off or you could have it on for a while before it shuts itself off.
