For the past 4-5 months or so, my TV has come on by itself in the middle of the night. I have Dishnet work who assume me that it's not their equipment making this happen. Checked for power surges but ruled that out also. The clock on the TV is not set, therefore, no "alarm clock" mode could be activiating this either. This does not happen every night, it's random. Any suggestions?
I experienced the same exact problem for a while. Drove me crazy. Would turn on by itself only after a few minutes. Then I realized it began after I added a VCR or a DVD the rear input. Move the plugs to a different input (video 4 to video 5) and the problem was rectified.

Go into the menu options and see if it has a setting for alarm. It may be turning on at the same time every night to wake you up. It is also possible a neighbor has the same infrared code and is pushing their power button and it is turning your on.
if you recently got dishnetwork call the company that installed the system for a repair person, they HAVE to fix it. if you put it in yourself it sounds like the lnb is bad or the dishnetwork splitter is bad or not hooked up right. this kind of problem is a reminder that paying an extra $5 a month for service warranty is a good deal. if something is wrong with anything then, a phone call to dishnetwork will get new equipment sent to you or a service tech sent to fix it. i don't presently work for dish or direct or a cable co but i know that's how things work.
i've seen this happen a few times and most of those times it turned out that that a security light or some other light source was getting into the infrared sensors on front of the device. this usually occurs after just recently rearranging furniture and tv locations. it can also be kind of spooky. this also happens in the daytime when the sun is shining on the unit in question.
