Question about Rio CE2100 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Rio ce2100 and mp3 files

I have a Rio ce2100 mp3 player. recently I hard drive crash and had to replace the c drive on pc. when i reinstalled my rio software, it now says my model & serial number are invalid, and will not let me re-download the premium package with the mp3 codec for the PC. The Premium package did a great job of ripping cd's to mp3s for uploading onto the ce2100. What would be the best mp3 encoder to use as a replacement?
thanks in advance

My songs go to files and I got locked out.

This player was manufactured in the pre-DRM era. As soon as you plug it into the computer now, all of the songs are now read as files that should be copy-protected, but do not have the new DRM encryption on them. All of your precious songs will have to be re-downloaded - annoying, I know. It happened to me also.

Rio ce2100 upgrader

You probably have broken the hard drive,

Try replacing it with a CF card,

Everybody says that this does not work but it definitely does!

My Rio got dropped and I completely buggered the hard drive so after reading many forums saying that it didn't work I read one that said that someone had told them that sandisk ultra II ones worked (very vague!)

Because I had nothing to lose I went out and bought a 1GB sandisk Ultra II CF card. I then took apart my rio and replaced the hard drive with the CF card. Still not thinking it was going to work I plugged it into my computer and installed the latest firmware (from the rio website) and then HEY PRESTO!!!!!! it works.

I have yet to try an 8GB ultra II card but when I do i will keep you posted.

If you don't believe me then I don't blame you but If you send me a request then I can send you pictures and more details...

Rio will live on

Hope this helps

My Rio turns off mid-song

I would recommend wiping your player:

Windows only.... Please post if you are not using windows...

Open My Computer with your Rio plugged in.
Right click on your Rio carbon and click on format.
Leave the default values - if it asks you something then use your initiative.
Then click on format.
Then when it has finished formatting go to your firmware (can be downloaded from: http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/product.asp?prodID=235).
Follow the instructions and then it should load the firmware onto your player.
When it has done then your player should (in theory!) work properly.

Hope this helps

Player spontaneously shuts off (battery is charged!)

Hi. I recommend a firmware upgrade. You can obtain this by doing the following: 1) Connect the player to your computer with the USB cable. 2) Wait for "idle" to be displayed on the player screen. 3) Double-click the file that you downloaded from the Rio website. The update should take approximately 30 seconds to load. and here is the link for your firmware upgrade file. http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/downloads/ce2100/RioCe2100_firmware_143.exe Good Luck

My rio ce2100 keeps stuttering or skipping

I would recommend wiping your player - (if this doesn't work then it is probably the tracks/audio you are playing and not the player):

Windows only.... Please post if you are not using windows...

Open My Computer with your Rio plugged in.
Right click on your Rio carbon and click on format.
Leave the default values - if it asks you something then use your initiative.

Insufficient space to index your content

I would suggest going to the rio site, http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/product.asp?prodID=235. Downloading the latest version of the rio music manager. See if,once the manager is loaded, you can access your music. What OS did you load? Are you using MS indexer or Google?
