This is happening to me for the second time on the same unit. The first time, I brougt it back to the store and the GeekSquad took the cover off while I was there to watch. He demonstrated that when inserting the DVD it would try to load, but the DVD would not spin. The tech manually spun the DVD in clock-wise direction and the DVD "caught on" and the DVD loaded successfully.

This was not the recommended approach for loading DVDs, and it did not make loading start to work again (except by manually spinning the DVD again). Also note that this situation seems to "degrade", not improve over time.

Fortunately, the first time I was able to get the unit fixed under warranty ... I am not sure what I am going to do about it this time.

I hope this helps some of you out there experiencing the same problem.

My coby dvd player will not load dvds. After trying to load, I get a message that says "Wrong Disc". I have tried to put in other dvds, but get the same response. These dvds work in our other dvd...

its probably the laser is misaligned. somtimes you can maually reset it by takeing the disc out and sliding the "eye" toward the center. this will possibly break it, but a misaligned laser is not going to work so you;ve got nothing to lose. put in a disc you know is good, no scratches, and turn it on again.
good luck!

Cds fine; dvds won't load

Most likely the DVD laser lens is dirty. Unplug the CH-DVD 300 from the wall outlet, wait 5 minutes, then remove the top cover. Next, remove the rectangular metal plate which covers the area where the CD or DVD disc would be when in the player's tray. Underneath the rectangular plate you should see two small lenses. Gently clean these lenses using ear swabs moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Reassemble the CH-DVD 300 in the reverse order that you disassembled it, plug it back into power, and now it should read your DVD discs just fine.
