NG: POOR LINE CONDITION / OUT OF MEMORY

We have multiple faxes in our facility that produce the above error message when trying to submit faxes and we are also unable to receive faxes. I tried using a phone to test the connection and the line worked, but I was thinking there may be some static issues that could cause this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion for troubleshooting?

You can adjust the Compatibility mode. This adjusts the sensitivity of the machine to interference on the phone line by lowering the transmission speed:
a. Press Menu, 2 (Fax), 0 (Miscellaneous), 1 (Compatibility)
b. Press Up or Down arrow to select "Basic"
c. Press OK.
d. Press Stop/Exit.
e. Try resending the fax.
If the problem continues we recommend you try the unit on another line at the current location or another location. Always restart your machines after you made changes, that way you will see the results.

If you hear static you need the phone company to check it out. This will cause problems receiving and sending faxes. Lawrence

The out of memory condition is reached due to not being able to send faxes from memory. Have the phone company check the lines, but 1st make sure there is nothing hooked into the phone lines such as burglar alarms that canintroduce noise and static.

This sounds stupid but....make sure the phone line is set up in the right input.
the phone worked on mine but i got the error "NG POOR LINE QUALITY / OUT OF MEMORY". switched the phone line input(from the telephone) and the phone cord output and it works fine now

My Brother mfc-665cw will not fax. It keep saying NG: POOR LINE CONDITION/OUT OF MEMORY

Check to see if you can make a call using the fax machine. This error can occur if you have no connection. It can also occur if your line is occupied or busy.

When we try to fax, the transmission verification report reads NG: Poor Line Condition/Out of Memory

Is the fax on a dedicated phone line, or have are you sharing the line with another phone and perhaps a ADSL filter?

Hanging extra devices off of the same line as your Fax can cause the signal to weaken.

If you have extra devices hanging off one line, then remove all of them, then try to fax again.

Receiving error NG message when send multiple pages

Changed transmission mode to normal in order to get rid of EMC error. Caution! depends on your telephone line or modem, for DSL is good for normal mode at 14400 bps else set it to basic mode at 9600 bps.

OUTGOING FAX ERROR CODE: NG

Hi,
I can advise you on the 'memory full' problem, mate.

If you get a MEMORY FULL message while scanning the first page of a fax, press Stop to cancel the scan. If you get a MEMORY FULL message while scanning in a subsequent page, you’ll have the option to press Start to transmit the pages scanned
so far, or to press Stop to cancel the operation. In this case, send the fax by the Manual Transmission.
Depending on your typical faxes, MEMORY FULL errors can occur frequently. If this happens, change the Memory Transmission setting back to OFF.
To do this:

Press Function/Set, 3, 9.
This should take you to MEMORY TX
and MEMORY TX: ON?
Then press either the left or the right arrow (< or >) to switch on or off, and press Function/Set.
For the next fax transmission only, press < or > to select
NEXT FAX ONLY and press Function/Set.

This will mean you don't add any more to the memory and may be able to send faxes. There is a possibility that you will only be able to fax using manual transmission, but at least you should be able to use the machine to fax at all!

I apologise if the jargon is confusing, just try to go through the process one step at a time and you should be fine.

Hope this helps :)
