Belkin N Wireless Router F5D8233-4 shuts down desktops with gigafast g wireless adapters

I just bought a Belkin N Wireless Router F5D8233-4. It works on all the laptops in the house, but I have 2 desktops with Gigafast wireless adapters plugged in the usb's in the back. Both on startup displayed a blue screen that indicated an error and the machines would not start until I reboot with the wireless adapters disconnected. Actually, the older desktop won't start, just the newer one. The older now comes up with a message saying that a config file is corrupt or missing. Is this a known issue?

This fault is almost certainly caused by the USB adapters and not the router. What model are they?

Make sure that the computers in error are set to DHCP for the TCP/IP properties. For the computers to see each other, the workgroup has to be the same on all of them. Each computer must have its own unique name.

For computers to be able to access each other, the computer's firewall has to be set to allow, or be turned off. The disk drives have to be set to share.

The router should have a NAT firewall. It should be turned on by default. As long as the NAT is turned on, it is safe to have the computer's firewall turned off and still be connected to the net.

the printer and Wii may not recognise WPA security type. change the security type to 64bit WEP. in ur router u'll have WPS(wi fi protected set up) , u need to disable it. this will make ur printer and Wii work.

What is a desktop card? Belkin Wireless G Router questions too.

The only thing you need is a network connection in the back of your computer if you are going wired or a wireless adaptor for each device if you want to connect that way.

I understand the Wii has wireless built into it but you might want to check on that.

Belkin wireless connection

scott:
Try these first:

change channels to 1-6-or 11. Make sure you change all of your wireless computers1.gif.

check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."

You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.

This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.

Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.

Cordless phones and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies. As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phones1.gif in the area and see if it helps.

Try going to the usb and the wireless adapter in device manager, properties. And make sure that the computer1.gif does not shut them off to save power.
Please let me know how you make out.
thanks

Hooking linksys to gigafast

There are some question's that should probably be asked before we begin. Generally a wireless adapter or network card is present in a computer to allow it to access a wireless router which is connected to an internet service provider (generally a dsl connection through a phone line or a cable modem from your cable provider. Your request seems to be to get a computer to talk to a wireless router to talk to a wireless router to talk to your internet service provider (dsl or cable). I will assume after reading this that you probably have or will get a wireless adapter for the computer to talk to one or both of the wireless routers you appear to have. Wiring two wireless routers in the same house may be useful if the home is large or the wireless routers operate on different bands (a, b, g or frequencies) and you have different computers that require the different bands. however both wireless routers are in my experience connected to each other using a wire. Once we clarify the above we can probably address the connectivity issues for the devices you require.

D-Link wireless router and Belkin Wireless G USB Network adapter

Set your wireless network as a preferred network and to automatically connect to it. Also set it at the top of the list so that it takes precedence. If you continue to get conflicts, change the channel of the router.
