If you are missing your XP disk, you could borrow one from someone else, or look on eBay. If you happen to have a Dell machine, I know that the XP install disks for Dell are commonly sold fairly cheaply on eBay.

    Try a system restore.

You don't need an XP disc to do a system restore.

Try booting to Safe Mode, or otherwise getting to System Restore where you can back up to a restore point created before the update. Here's a Google search for causes of that error message:

I have a IBM thinkcenter 8123 model. I can't install lan due to lac of suitable driver! pls help me!

Go into the bios on your computer and shut down the onboard LAN, find a 3com or realtek LAN card and install it, windows has the drivers build in for most 3com cards, then you go to IBM site, download the drivers you need for the onboard LAN connection, remove the 3com card let the computer boot up, and when it asks for the driver point it to where you downloaded the drivers for the onboard LAN.

IBM Lenovo t60, the logon user interface DLL

To wipe and reload you don't actually have to log in. You just need to set first boot option to CD, insert the XP disk, and reboot the computer. All the steps from there on out are explained on the screen.

I hope this helps :)

Hp flat panel monitor comes on shows logon and then blank screen

Ok, another words, monitor powers up for few seconds and shuts down by itself. If green LED on the front panel turns off as well or stays on?
If stays on, then inverter turns into protection mode because of old backlight lamps.
If it turns off in same time with an image on the screen, then there are some bad electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.

How to enter into BIOS when trackpoint was broken.

Hi there.
Its something to do with the trackpoint, possibly the cable has become loose.
* If an emergency power down is made by switching the system off during or while an application is open, then immediately switching the system on creates a 8611 error.
* Repeatedly turning power off and back on without properly shutting down or allowing the system to shut itself down.

Solution
Wait at least 6 seconds or longer after shutting down the system or before restarting to correct the 8611 error.
See if that gets rid of the error, if not it could be a loose cable to the trackpoint.

Good luck

Desktop colour depth change on startup

Your colour issue may be down to incorrectly configured graphics settings, make sure in properties the colour is set to Highest (32-bit). If that fails, you can use a new user account, drag your files over on the new account and re-do your settings and delete your old user account. As you have changed quite a lot of components in your computer, the only likely problem left is either a dodgy power supply unit or an overheating issue. If a power supply detects it has a fault, it will shut itself off. However, go to your BIOS and search through menus for temperature information (you can usually find it in the power section of the BIOS) and check if the temperature is abnormal. Anything like 75 celcius and above can cause the computer to shut itself down as a safety feature. On most motherboards, you can raise this limit so it shuts down at 80 celcius or 90 celcius, or not at all. 80 is the absolute highest I'd ever set a computer at, because the higher the temperature at that sort of level, the lower life expectancy your components will have. You may also have a faulty CPU as "compileing and writing DVD's" is very CPU intensive and can be causing the computer to die. Make sure your CPU is NOT OVERCLOCKED. If it is, take the overclock off.
