February 26th 2008 My cat pushed my Nikon Coolpix 4100 off a table recently. I picked up the camera immediately and turned it on to check whether it still worked - it did still work. However, a few days later, I get a "system error" message and cannot get rid of the message. Is there any hope of "reviving" my Coolpix or having it repaired at a reasonable cost? J. Hynes

Re: "error message" Nikon Coolpix 4100
Did you try power cycling the camera? Take out the batteries and hold the powere button for about 1 minute and then leaving it without the batteries for a few hours? This should reset the camera. Let me know if it works.

Download the coolpix 4100 software here. I'm pretty sure it works for any coolpix but I just used it for my 4100. I called Nikon's pacific repair facility and was directed to the website by a rep. This is actually faster than the original installation software.
