Hi,

use cross cable to interlink between hubs (ex. from hub1 to hub2 & from hub2 to hub3 .... and so on...)

use straight cable to interlink pc to hub

thank you,
Allan

Hi,

Check the following:

Hardware First: Is Vista confirming LAN connection onn that PC, or is it showing disconnected cable?

Is the connection properties showing at least 100Mbps?
Are the RJ45 terminals okay?
Is the driver for the network card recognized by Vista and loaded?

If that is fine, then check the following in the network properties:

1. The IP address you are using
2. The gateway address: it must be the same as the gateway address in the other PCs accessing internet. Run and check
3. The Subnet mask. Use 255.255.255.0
4. HAve you Setup the Nework using the Setup Wizard, including Access INTERNET THROUGH A HUB THROUGH ANOTHER COMPUTER ON MY NETWORK?

Check those things and let us know. Ask for help from your network administrator about correct IP addresses on that LAN

I want to connect the netsurfer laptop using the internet wireless of ukzn (howard college) campus but it doesn't go through what coulf be the problem

Hi there,

It could be that the college WLAN (Wireless network) has some proxy settings. If you are from the same college you can try going to the IT support of your campus so they can configure your computer to be able to connect to the network.

Hi when i connect my ir 3300 with computer the ir3300 is showing network problem. even i had change two no. of cross cables.

Wich kind of problems, you are unable to ping the copier or you cant print, or ...

If you connecting the PC directly use the croswired cable if you are connected over HUB, or other network device you must use normal UTP patch cable, from copier to the HUB, and from the HUB to PC.
Do you have right IP, subnet and gateway?

Check the network cards on copier and PC, if you crimp the cables by yourself check the cables,...

Do you have printer FLASH on your copier?

When did errors occured? Were you able to print before?

HP Procurve 1700-8 working upto 10m UTP cable only.

It is not a distance limitation of the switch, rather the cabling in the walls and ceiling. If the cable is Cat5 it can be up to 100M, but this can be drastically reduced with things like EM interference from fluorescent lights, kinks in cable and more. The switch auto detects the maximum reliable speed and this interference would cause it to drop to 10MBps. If you don't have a cable certifier (very expensive) you may want to consider simply replacing the cabling run with Cat6 following best installation practices. You can learn more at http://www.lanshack.com/cat5e-tutorial.aspx.

Difrence of lan wan

The Lan limit on unshielded twisted pair cable (UTP) is 300 ft for a local area network (lan). The cable uses the 802.3 Of course if fiber is used in a LAN then this # can be extended substantially.

Now the main difference between the LAN and Wide Area Network (WAN) is that LANs typically have 1 brodacast domain and froward packets at data link (layer 2 of the OSI) level using MAC addresses.

The WAN operates at the network level (layer 3 of the OSI). WANs are and reads IP addresses. Routers can extend far distances (as you said 40-60km) and band with depends on distance. the further away, the more attenuation on the line.

I hope this helps.

A wide area network

I need to connect to two computers. How do I connect? One computer connecyed John

you connect the two computers in many different ways, 1. you can use a router 2. you can use a port switch or network hub 3. you can connect this two computers thru a UTP CABLE with a cross over connection. after connecting using either any of the mentioned above you need to run the network wizard inorder to have a network.

Connection Problem

maybe its not in the hub/router, or in your lancard has the problem. try to change the networking cable you are using it sometimes the cable has a teared wire inside, or probably the lancard or your hub does not work for the type of networking cable, there are 2 types of connection for UTP cable first is the Straight through cable and the second is the Cross Over connection. Try to mix and match the cable that you have and try to use another one instead..
