Question about Toshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD Notebook

Trend Micro Internet security keeps on scanning...won't allow me to shut off the computer. It says: Your unauthorized Prevention service has shut down. Try restarting Trend Micro Internet Security to restore unauthorized change prevention service. But the problem persists...can you help me?

    Same here. Once a scan starts, scheduled or manual, it never stops scanning and will not let me do anything else until I shut down the computer using the on/off button, it won't restart on its own.

    I had the same problem and it drove me insane until they did some kind of scan on my computer which idenified previous Virus Protection programs that had not been totally deleted from my computer. Once those programs were identified and deleted, the Trend Micro program removed and reinstalled all the craziness finally ended. I have used Trend Micro for a number of years but this year is the first time I updated to the new Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 and it will be the last year I use it. I've had nothing but problems. I've never had to remove and reinstall a program so many times or had so many different problems with a program. It's too bad because it use to be so user friendly. Another one of my pet peeves is they have no tutorials for it either. They only provide instructions for set up and then the Help screen provides limited information. The online support, knowledge tree etc is okay and when you email for assistance often it takes many more than one email to resolve the issue as it appears customer service is taking the time to read the information, instead taking a quick perusal which takes more time instead for both parties. The new program is far from user friendly. There are sections of the program I'm not familiar with using properly and I'm not too bad with computers. Individuals who have limited experience with computers must constantly have virus's on their computers. I've raised all these concerns numerous times with Trend Micro and also included my suggestions of what was needed and was extremely disappointed with the responses.

Personally, I would uninstall Trend - I had the same problem. I'd get my money back as well. I didn't bother to find out why because it was a hassle going through all kinds of do this and do that processes - the heck with that. If programmers did their job correctly, it should work. But unfortunately they are more concerned about job security than doing a good job.

You can download your application from any web site. All you need to do later is activate that software with the serial key that you have got while purchasing the CD.Keep your Software updated and regularly scan your PC for maximum results.

1. make sure that the previous installation is inactive
2. since this is a new computer, upgrade to the Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 version. use the same serial number and remember to create a NEW account when prompted.

This error will appear if you have installed the 16.05 version of
Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, Trend Micro Internet Security and
Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008 on a computer running
Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or Window XP with Service Pack 3.

The Trend Micro Personal Firewall and the Unauthorized Changes
Prevention features main components do not work with the new service
packs from Microsoft.

A working version of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, Trend Micro
Internet Security and Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008 with
Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3 would be released sometime in
February 2008.

The release would be timed before Microsoft uploads the new service
packs in their automatic update servers for Windows.

To prevent this message from appearing, follow the steps indicated

a.Check the program version of the Trend Micro program installed on
your computer.

b.If you are using version 16.05 and you want to continue using this
latest version of the Trend Micro program, you must uninstall the non-
working service pack from Microsoft.

c. If you do not want to remove the new Microsoft service packs, Trend
