Question about Toshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD Notebook

Trend Micro Internet security keeps on scanning...won't allow me to shut off the computer. It says: Your unauthorized Prevention service has shut down. Try restarting Trend Micro Internet Security to restore unauthorized change prevention service. But the problem persists...can you help me?

    Same here. Once a scan starts, scheduled or manual, it never stops scanning and will not let me do anything else until I shut down the computer using the on/off button, it won't restart on its own.

    I had the same problem and it drove me insane until they did some kind of scan on my computer which idenified previous Virus Protection programs that had not been totally deleted from my computer. Once those programs were identified and deleted, the Trend Micro program removed and reinstalled all the craziness finally ended. I have used Trend Micro for a number of years but this year is the first time I updated to the new Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 and it will be the last year I use it. I've had nothing but problems. I've never had to remove and reinstall a program so many times or had so many different problems with a program. It's too bad because it use to be so user friendly. Another one of my pet peeves is they have no tutorials for it either. They only provide instructions for set up and then the Help screen provides limited information. The online support, knowledge tree etc is okay and when you email for assistance often it takes many more than one email to resolve the issue as it appears customer service is taking the time to read the information, instead taking a quick perusal which takes more time instead for both parties. The new program is far from user friendly. There are sections of the program I'm not familiar with using properly and I'm not too bad with computers. Individuals who have limited experience with computers must constantly have virus's on their computers. I've raised all these concerns numerous times with Trend Micro and also included my suggestions of what was needed and was extremely disappointed with the responses.

Here’s a tested resolution to the Trend Micro – No internet connectivity issue:

In this case it was Windows 7 with Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010.

Right click on the Trend Micro tray icon and choose “Exit”.
Make sure you can get online.
Start Trend micro from the start menu or desktop icon.
Go to the firewall settings under “Home Network & Firewall Controls” *
Click “settings”
Click “advanced settings”
Go to the “Program control” tab
Locate and remove anything that shows “blocked”
Go to the “Network Protocol Control” tab
Locate and remove anything that shows “blocked”
Click OK.
Update the software by clicking “update now” on the main window (Overview) and make sure system shows “Protected” **
Restart the computer and try to go online again.
If successful, you’re done J

Trend Micro 16 Internet security blocking access to Internet after on-line...


Recently there have been problems with systems running Trend Micro 16 Internet Security blocking access to the Internet after an on line update.

SO far the simplest resolution I have found for this issue is to disable the Trend Micro Firewall, and enable this Windows Firewall. This restores access to the Internet in the normal mode and has no effect on the Antivirus Component of the software suite.

Trend has published the following fixes, but as yet I have not had any success using them.

Critical virus in wireless part


Connect a LAN cable to your laptop and router so you can access the Internet and use a WEB base virus removal.
After removing the virus, reinstall the wireless driver.

If it is a bad virus that won't let you do anything on the computer, follow the instructions on this link. If you can install programs on your computer, follow only steps 7 and 8 from the above link.

Computer froze when installing Trend Internet Security


Restart the computer
Press F8
Choose "Safe mode with command line"
When you're in the command line type:

control appwiz.cpl

and just uninstall Trend Internet Security.
After that, check Trend website and search for known issues.
