Question about Optics

Pitch black I have a older model monocular night owl which was working fine up until a few months ago. I recently tried to use it but I can't see anything through it now. I changed the batteries and still nothing but darkness. I bought it second hand but it worked fine then. It has not been rough handled nor have I tried to look through it into direct light. Is this a fixable problem or should I justt junk the thing?

I have a similar, if not the same, problem. I have had this model for a few years now however, but I had the same issue when I first bought them (bought them new). They have since been sitting in my closet in the packaging collecting dust. I occasionally take them out and inspect them and find that after they sit for an extended period they will in fact turn on but only for a short time as they fade to black soon thereafter. I attempted contacting Night Owl numerous times for repair and never once received a response from them. I paid a fair amount for these and did enjoy them when they did function properly. I would like to have them repaired if at all possible but can't find a repair center that will service this model and brand. Basically I would like to know, firstly, IF they CAN be repaired and, secondly, if so, where and approximately for how much?

I have a night owl optics night vision nocx5m. With a new battery, it comes on but is completely black. Can it be fixed or is it a dud and needs to be thrown away?

I have a Nocc3. It worked until stored but now all I get is the infrared sensor light. Nothing else happens. Do I need to junk it ? Its still in very good shape and hardly used.

I just recently got my night hawk out of my garage and it seems like maybe the battery expanded a little (probably because of the heat?) So I was wondering, will it still work if I get a new battery for it? I also couldn't find the cord for it so where would you suggest I go to buy a new one? Thanks Traci

I also have the same problem. Is the solution just replacing the intensifier tube, and if so, where is something like that purchased & estimated cost. Would it be better less costly to just replace the goggle itself?

I have a nigh owl optics night vision monocular. I bought it about 10 years ago . It has two buttons. One is the "On" button. The other is the IR LED. Both the red and the green lights are lit....

Ten year sounds fine. You got ten years out of Russian manufacture NV monocular, even though it has Night Owl Logo on it. Send to me, I new some parts. I can get the gen 1 Russian image intensfier tube, or you can sen to Night Owl Optics in El Paso, TX.

Some of use think we know what we are doing with NV but without parts or even schematic for them we are sometime not ability to fix these NV devises. I have a couple of suppliers that will provide some image intensifier tubes; of course, on American image tubes all American Citzens can buy them but they are really expensive. The ccfl inver, control board, and even the voltage multiplier needs to be manufactured.

Do what ever you think is right, call Night Owl and see what the charges. stewbison

Hello Here Night Owl Optics owner manual web site for your monocular:

One more thing. DO NOT LOOK THROUGH NV MONOCULAR DURING THE DAY, OR LOOK AT BRIGHT LIGHTS. This will destroy the image intensifier tube. Night Owl Optics in El Paso, TX will charge you about $200 plus parts and shipping to repair it. So, listen no looky at bright lights in the neighbor bedroom window, hey. GB...stewbison

My night vision scope will not turn on. My LEDs work but you can not see anything in the lens. Yes the cap is off. I tried new batteries. It has very few hours of operating time. Help!

Hello, Welcome to the world of Russian night vision system. That is right, Night Owl Optics Cyclops NOCC3 is manufactured in Russian. The biggest problem with these monocular and binoculars and even scope is that they use cheap 1st generation Russian image tubes and everything else. It would be cost prohibitive to have it fixed, that is, if Night Owl Optics will fix it for you. Hint: Auction it on Ebay as night vision parts. Sorry, GB...stewbison

Lights come on but nothing shows its black.lens looks good

I have seen a few of this model and the tubes were gone in each case. Best way is to check if HV present at tube - get someone who knows what they are doing to take a look. If it is the tube, it will be expensive to repair. Unscrewing the lens may reveal that the inner surface of the tube has dark marks, also indicating possible tube damage.
