Question about MSI 865PE Neo3-FS Motherboard

2 Answers

Want to upgrade the memory, ident. issues for proper DDR...

Firstly, My manual says that the board is an : MSI 865PE/G Neo-3 (MS-6728) v3.X ATX mainboard and is based on : Intel 865PE/G & ICH5/5R chipsets. I am using an : Intel Pentium 4 Prescott LGA775 processor.
Here is my question.....In the manual it says I can install DDR266/333/400/433/466/500/533 SDRAM modules. I wish to use the DDR533 for overclocking purposes but am unsure just what EXACTLY to ask for when ordering them. Here are some more specifics from the manual : 4 slots for 184 pin, 2.5V DDR DIMM. It further says : Please note that the DDR SDRAM does not support ECC and registered DIMM.
It also says that it supports up to 1GM max for each module, and uses DUAL CHANNEL DDR with all slots filled. I hope this is enough information for you to help me, thank you very much, Ed.

Here is the link to your board: Check here: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=865PE_Neo3-F&class=mb
MSI Part No: MS-6728-130/150
Listed on the left of this link site is Supported Memory.

I was unable to find 533MHz but did find some 500MHz DDR here:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1357
Once you get to 533MHz the memory changes to DDR2 the memory seems to change to 240pin.
However there is enough info for you to make a decision Ed.
Good luck!

Hello!

as i look at your mainboard here: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=865PE_Neo3-F the mainboard support,

Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 2.5 Volt DDR SDRAM
• Supports up to 4GB memory size without ECC • Supports Dual channel DDR266/333/400MHz and up.

to be safe i would recommend DDR 400-

Just say.."2 units 1gig Memory DDR 400 sdram "

Hard ware problem

You can have just 2 hardware problems with Office 2007 on your system: either your RAM is too small (it needs to be at least 512 MB) or you don't have enough hard disk space (it needs at leasT 2GB for itself).
So either you buy more memory or you buy a bigger hard disk.

I need driver usb 2.0 for my mother board MSI 865PE/G Neo3 MS-6728 (v3.X)

Windows should find and install the latest themselves, try letting it do a driver search online to find the latest.

Otherwise get from the manufacturer. Try here:
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=600

The chipset drivers should do it.

Whether supports DDR?

Hi valentin122, you're board does not support PC2700 memory.
The link below will take you to you're board,
MSI 845 UltraC (MS 6566). Suggest you add to you're favorites.
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=845_Ultra-C

There is not a bios upgrade to support PC2700 memory.
Bios link.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=295

You're manual is here.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=3466&type=manual

See page 2-5 in you're manual.
The mainboard provides 2 slots for 184-pin, 2.5V unbuffered DDR DIMM with 4 memory banks. You can install PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules on the DDR DIMM slots (DDR 1~2).
To operate properly, at least one DIMM must be installed.
Here is a link for you're memory. To reach you max GB, you would need 2 DIMMS.
http://www.computermemoryoutlet.com/Standard_DIMMs-PC2100_(266MHz)_DDR-184^pin_NON_ECC_(Usually_for_desktops)-memory.htm

Have more questions, feel free to ask.
Good Luck!

Mike

Msi 865pe neo2-p (ms-6728)

well if thats so...theres only way and hope you can rebuild it...download from the official msi site www.msi.com.tw the bios properly for the board, make a bootable cd and under DOS mode try to rewrite it.
for now theres no bios in your board...
but I must say you...It is a huge chance that you did a severe damage to the board and may not be recovered..
however try the bios  like I said...
keep me up to date..I  worked a lot with MSI boards..I really want to know how you do it..
bye
