My Sony has a problem with screens that are mostly white (such as the Wii eMail menu, or commercials that start all white). It's quite bizzar but when thre is a lot of white the screen blacks out momentarily then cycles back on. It doesn't always cycle out for the same time but average recover is <2 seconds. The lamp is not going off as when it goes black there's still the screen glow.
Re: Picture blanks out when there's a lot of white
First I have a question for for you...Does it happen on all channels???I'm asking you this because if its not on all channels the problem may not be the tv set but the station that you are watching. The reason is that they have to transmit signal 1Vpp max and if its higher for some reason it makes interference with sound which your tv see as a mistake and protect circuit turn off LCD inside. The other thing is that your lamp time is over and you have to replace it because it can't provide enough light anymore and when "white" scene is on the screen the high voltage unit try to heat gas in the lamp but can't and protect is working again

Make sure that you are connecting the RCA (Red/Yellow/White) cables into the standard input RCA slots on your TV/VCR. If you are plugging them into the standard output slot or an HDTV slot that is likely the problem.
Hi.If the power light is green or orange and your screen remains blank, follow these steps.
1. Completely power down your system by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, unplug the AC Adapter from the Wii for a moment, then plug it back in.
2. Make sure your Wii console has the most current Wii system menu. Download the latest update, and then test your Wii console to determine if the problem has been resolved. If you continue to experience this issue, there is a problem with the Wii console and it will need to be repaired by a certified Nintendo service tech.
If your Wii console is currently connected on-line, you can download the latest Wii System Update by selecting the "Wii System Update" button from Wii System Settings menu. Downloading the latest Wii System Update will add the most current features to your Wii console. If you already have the latest update, on-screen messaging will indicate so after the Wii console searches the available Wii System Updates.
To Power Reset the Camera, please remove the Battery from the Camera, press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds and then reinsert the Battery.
Another option: I took the battery out and I pressed Menu and Shutter button for 30 seconds and it worked! The screen is back!
Is this your first time hooking up the Wii console or have you moved
it to another TV or VCR?
The AV Multi Out plug that is included with the Wii will allow you
to connect the console to most televisions or video cassette recorders
(VCR). First, look at the back of your television AND your VCR and
see if you have colored holes label "Input". Though most
TVs have them, almost all VCRs do as well.
Audio/Video (AV) inputs are located on the front or back of the TV or VCR.
They are smooth silver posts with the inside showing a color, usually red, white and yellow.
Look for inputs marked Audio and Video IN.
image on the left features stereo audio inputs. Some televisions have
only one audio input. Click here for help setting up a mono audio
Do NOT connect your system to anything marked OUT.
shows that the majority of these issues can be solved by double-checking
your connection and finding the correct Input Select for your TV
If you have verified the connection is correct, and are still receiving
a blank white or blank dark screen when powering on your Wii
console, then the problem is likely with the system and it will
need to be repaired.
