I cannot get my webcam on my acer aspire 5517....i

Hi Ian,

The Camera is fact Liteon, and your using sunyin driver to operate it, is that correct?

If so, WHY?

Apropriate and recommended drivers for specific hardware, else things go BELLY_UP!!!!

Try installing the recommended drivers for your Liteon camera.

its better to use the one with higher pixel rating so that your clarity will be super good... any kinda webcam will work...

if the webcam driver is properly install. Just go to MY COMPUTER and click the camera icon to start view. if there is problem. check the device manage if there is problem and reinstall the required driver.

Acer generally uses the software "Crystal Eye" in its webcams. Make sure you have this software and drivers for the camera loaded. If you are not sure , the link below will take you to the general area to get them. Go to the link, insert the operating system you are using from the drop down menu and scroll down throughout the driver downloads and look for the downloads that reference "camera". In most cases the Acer Aspire series laptop used the "Suyin" model camera but that have also installed the "Chicony" model in a few, so I would download both and install the Suyin camera first to see if that is the one. The Crystal" software is very good when used in "skype", and video messaging.<br /> <br /> When you click on the link below, choose "notebook" then choose "Aspire" then choose "5517", now look below and there will be orange text that says "OPERATING SYSTEM" look to the right of that and you will see a drop down menu, choose your operating system and the drivers will appear below. Now if you are not sure entirely, do not fret, in most cases the drivers are the same regardless of the operating system. go into start menu.click all programs then go to acer chrystal eye webcam. i just found mine on the acer apire 5517 so im assuming all the acers with webcams have pretty much the same folder.

Webcam is available in selected models of 5517 aspire series.You will have to look into the model no. and check it with Acer site otherwise post it on fixya.
The models without camera also have the space in upper bazel which looks like camera.
