Can't get to "Video 1" to play DVDs

you connected the sound via optical spdif .......if the reciever has HDMI use that if not....select the correct device by going through the receivers selector .....ie: AV, DVD, CD, etc etc...you will find the picture when doing this. should work, also ensure the Tv source has been correctly set as the "SOURCE" on the tv remote.

go to samsung and you can download the manual from them ok.

Return the tv universal remote where u bought it,get ur money back.If none of the tv univeral romote programming codes on the owner manual codes for ur tv make and model don't even work and don't have any responses for ur tv make and model functioning all.Try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote or a very closed compatible clone one.

Well you can rip your DVD to any external drive using and third party DVD ripping software ,once you do that you will get a AVI,MPEG and any common fomats your DVD player supports

Inorder to play those files in your DVD player ,you need the check whether your DVD has a USB input port or else if you laptop or computer has a S-video out put and your TV has S-Video input ;you can play directly from your laptop/computer to the TV using a S-video Cable which is available in any Computer shop.

It sounds a lot like the internal IR receiver is bad; they can fail in different ways and they are not user replaceable.

Your set is made by Funai which has a mixed reputation for quality.

If you want to try an 'original,' check here to see if your model number is listed but be advised, the site is not cheap.

I would try to replace the AV switch IC which directs i/o signals to the tv decoding stage.

DVDs and CDs are formated with regional encoding 1-6. If your player does not support the format, it will not play the disk. You might try looking up your brand/model player online to see if it has a regional patch code which you can enter via remocon.

try changing the cable going out of tv to the system for audio, make sure the cable from tv/sat receiver is in audio out and in dvd player in the Audio In under the Video 1 bracket, then when you turn on the system click function button on the front panel it will show Video 1 on the LCD and that should work.

you need to unlpug your set and reconnect everything over and see what it does.if that does not work have a tech check your system.your sony recviever is the culprit let that be checked.good luck
