Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I bought a new Samsung Blue Ray DVD player (model # ?) and returned it after neither I nor the sales rep could make the HDMI input work ("weak signal") with a new LN-T5271F LCD TV. An older Samsung model BD-P1000 worked, so I settled for a used older model. Now I cannot get a XBox 360 to work via the HDMI input (works well with component). I am beginning to believe now that the problem is with the TV. Are there reported problems with the LN-T5271F HDMI inputs????

Two different components did not work with the HDMI inputs on the TV. One of course was the XBox 360, but why would a current DVD model made by Samsung not work with one of their own TV's?

Also, how does one find out about compatibilities between the components? I specifically bought the XBox 360 Elite just so I could use the HDMI...

I have seen this happen before when an update went bad right in the middle of an Internet outage. If you bought this recently, try to return it for a replacement. Otherwise, you will have to contact Samsung's support line to see if there is a Factory hard reset.

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

Check that the player is set-up in to a mode that is supported by your TV set. You should consult the user manuals of both the TV set and the player to follow through. Another solution which may be easier is to colll the Samsung service support.

No owners manual can't get new blue ray dvd player to work on tv

Here is the manual:

When using the HDMI connections you may have to tell the DVD to output to that port.  Also you may have to connect additional sound cables from the DVD output to the TV.

I have the same situation....what I have done is connected my Blue ray to the TV via the HDMI connection and the audio to the RTDVD1 via an Optical cable. I find this is the best connection and sound reproduction so far. The input of the RTDVD is the SAT/Optical input and then switch the source to SAT/OPT. You will have to make adjustments in the BlueRay player's audio setup to enable the 5.1 DB digital sound etc.

Pink display

It seems the DV-S5950 has an incompatability with HDMI through Samsung TV's.

I work for an electronics store in Australia, and had same problem when running this DVD player on my Samsung KA40A650.

I tried it on my brothers LA40M51 and the same thing happened. Tried it at work on the A650 display model and same thing again. Then I tried it on the LG LCD that was next to it, and no problems. Also tried the DV-S5950 display model at work and it did the same thing.

It's not a general Yamaha issue, as we bought a new (higher model) Yamaha DVD player and it worked perfectly fine. I also tested the cables, and it wasn't them either.

It seems that that specific model of DVD player from yamaha just doesn't like the HDMI inputs on Samsung TVs...
