DHG-HDD250 problems when recording

When I'm watching a recording program and recording a program I can't fast forward, pause, stop nothing works until the program that is recording stops.

In the evenings with the DVR recording, I loose all other functions (takes no commands short of Guid-exit reboot). In the morning I can record and watch a previouly recorded program. The room is hotter in the evenings but the DVR is still operating in the 98-102F range. Also the humidity might be higher. The fan is still woking. I've blown out the dust adjacent to the fan (wich broght temperatures down form 104-106F) but symtoms remain the same

I reset the machine, but it did not help.

Are you using the DVR remote controll or the TV remote

Posted on Dec 10, 2011

You need to reset the unit to factory defaults. This is not in the manual, and you must have a 9012 code to do this. Use your remote. Go to MENU, SCREEN, ENTER 9012. reset to factory defaults. Call this number and talk to a factory tech at Sony if you have problems. They will give you the directions that will reset the unit. 724-696-7000.

Can i set the clock manually ?

Yes, you can. There are different ways of going about it. There's an ongoing thread in the AVS Forum specifically with these Sony DHG units, now that the TV Guide System (ROVI) has been discontinued - which these Sony units relied on the Guide data to set the clock:

This thread is very, very long. The following link starts in Nov 2012 where the discussion picks up about ROVI stopping the TVGOS except via the Internet:

Tv guide listings at wrong time

Check the time zone setting in the STB. If after the power cut the STB settings got scrambled they could have defaulted to the wrong timezone. This would make the program guide times wrong.

My remote doesn't work when recording.

I have the same problem with my dvr. I went to tech support at sony. The tech spent a lot of time researching the problem. I had to leave so I told him to email me when he had some information. It's been 3 days now and I havent heard from him yet.
