Once the circuit board is damaged the phone is usually done for. The only thing i would suggest is to see if your service provider has a replacement phone or circuit board that a certified tech can replace/install. For future ref, opening the phone is a no-no and voids any warranty, the goes for super glue.

How do you get inside the tomtom 910 to change the battery please. Is there a maual? Cliff

There is no real manual for this, I have done it before though and have typed out the directions here for you, plus a link for the new battery if you need it:

Please make sure you rate my answer 4 thumbs up, it is extremely important to me. I would be forever grateful if you could do so. If you need more help on this question please just respond to my answer here and I will get right back to you.

New Battery:

1) Remove 4 screws under ends of rubber strips on back. (All screws are Torx number 6)

2) Remove back cover. Front frame around screen comes off easier now.

3) Remove 2 screws in round top circuit board. Remove 4 screws from lower circuit board. These two boards may have a glue connection. Do not worry if it separates

4) Lay back circuit boards to unplug battery. Note flat ribbon cables are fragile. The 3 wire plug is the battery. Unplug wires to battery from receptacle on circuit board.

5) Remove front screen by pressing a screwdriver against the small metal tags that follow the edge of the screen. The tabs need to be pushed in slightly to allow you to lift the screen out. It may need some leverage, but be careful not to put the screwdriver to far behind the screen as there are a couple of thin cables for the connections.

6) To remove the hard drive you may need to unscrew the vertical black tags about 2 cm long. These simply come away and are grasping the business card size silver box IE the hard drive. The rubber end caps are pressed in, pry out with small screw driver.
7) Remove battery and replace. Note the two sided sticky tape around battery. When putting more tape on, be careful you do not put to much around the right hand end as it will connect with the thin cable when you put it all back together.

9) Reverse assembly. Mine works fine now, good luck. (and so does mine! BLP)
Footnotes: I did not have a Torx #6 screwdriver nor could I buy one locally. I found a #7 mini star bit works just fine. Source: Harbor Freight item # 93316, 6 piece Mini Star Bit Set - $3 PMVN - 9/19/2009
I am not advertising but Batteryship.com included with the battery #5 & #6 torx screwdrivers, a very small philips (star), a straight screwdriver and a plastic pry tool. Whatever I paid more than another place it was worth it.

When disassembling do not remove the battery clip. Just pop out the battery from the front (experienced having to reassemble that whole thing). Also having a set of tweezers to put the electrical connections back together helped a bunch.

Thanks
Tim

My infant son grabbed my htc g1 to teeth on and he drooled a little bit in it. Now, the phone won't turn on. Occassionally, the buttons will flash on (then off) or it will vibrate, but otherwise its not...

Tajke the battery out Get some rice put the phone in a bowl and pour rice over the top this well help take out the moister, otherwise your going to need a cell phone shop quick. They will do the same thing, As I have done it with my clients phones , experts will say that rice is coorsove or leeave mineral deposits but we are not putting rice direct on the circuit boards so it should be fine. Try that let it sit for 3-4 days/

The phone does not charge when i plug it in to the wall it will say its charching but the battery never goes up

This is a hardware problem. The problem can be in the charger or in the phone itself. This is hardware problem which requires servicing.

My blackberry will not take a charge

Have a look at the pins on the mini-USB port on the side of the phone. The ends of the small wires should all be in a row resting on the bottom (towards the back side of the phone) of the tiny slots they are in. 2 of mine were not, and it would not charge because of this. I fixed mine with the following procedure (warning! semi-delicate surgery, but easy if you're near-sighted. Will void warranty, I'm sure, so just have it replaced if you're still covered by one):

Insert a small amount of the wire from a twist-tie into the slot, pushing the end of the offending USB wire down even with the others (if it doesn't fit snug, find bigger wire).

Snip off the twist-tie as close as you can with a small pair of nail clippers, then push the remaining wire in flush with a knife point.

Apply a *small* amount of super glue to the end of the wire you just pushed in flush to keep it in place.

Worked for me, your milage may vary depending on how good you are with maniplulating teeny things.

The phone is not recognizing the backup battery. can someone please help me on how to charge or replace the backup. battery

The backup battery is located inside the phone and canno be replaced by normal methods. the phone needs be disassembled and the battery are solded on the board.

the lifetime of these bateries are very high, maybe 5 or more years, and the charge occurs every time when you charge the phone.

Try to leave your phone charging for more than 3 hours, and if the battery dont charge, try a master reset on it.

If ater all, the battery dont charge, maybe you make some mistake or shorted some circuit. Take apart your phone again and re-check all the steps to reassembly.

Good luck

Dopped in sea water :-(

Water may have created short circuits and might have damaged both, the battery and the phone.

Since sea water contains salt and this is very damaging for all electronics devices, I would probabli advise you to completely clean the circuit boards etc with alcohol. You can probably set it from maplin or RS Components. They call it ethanol and is good for cleaning circuit boards as it evaporates quickly.

So after you cleaned it, leave it to dry and if nothing has been damaged then you may be a lucky person.
