Once the circuit board is damaged the phone is usually done for. The only thing i would suggest is to see if your service provider has a replacement phone or circuit board that a certified tech can replace/install. For future ref, opening the phone is a no-no and voids any warranty, the goes for super glue.

My phone will not charge. why is that

1) You have corrosion in the charging port and it is shorting it out. Remove battery and clean inside port hole with alcohol and a long bristle brush.

2) The charging port needs to me resoldered. That is a daily repair for my shop. the TWO OUTTER pins are the ones that do the charging the middle are for USB. Just reflow the solder, sometimes they have a crack in them where they bend down to solder into the board. in that case you will have to use a super fine wire to jump the pins where they are broken and solder them to the board. Not for everyone and you need magnification super small iron and flux to relow the solder. never add solder just reflow it with flux. i charger $25 in my shop.

I have a baby monitor model wl2003 that the battery charger connection on the monitor has broken on the inside-looks like the part broke off the circuit board. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks

I had the same thing happen to mine. I had to give up on their tech support after 3 weeks of runaround.

  1. Remove the battery door
  2. Remove the battery
  3. Remove the 2 small silver screws at the bottom back of the unit.
  4. Carefully remove the back plate. There are several plastic clips that hold the front to the back, be gentle and work the back plate side-to-side to get this off without breaking.
  5. Set aside the button pad, this is only set in place and not connected
  6. Carefully lift the main circuit board from the unit and lay it face down. The speaker wires can remain attached to the back plate during this operation.
  7. Grab a soldering iron with a very small point on it. Place the recharging port that fell out back in place. Align the 5 lead wires that protrude from the rear of this port with the 5 pads on the mainboard. There should be enough solder in place already on the board to hold it. Lightly touch the point of your iron to the top of the lead wires and hold the iron there just long enough to melt the solder under it. Do this for all 5 pads. DO NOT cause a solder branch between the leads or you will short this out.
  8. Once the electrical connections are reestablished, do something to reenforce the connection between the port itself and the board. The original design is very weak here. I would recommend a dab of hot glue or super glue on each side of the port.
Test with your charging cord before reversing the disassembly instructions above.

When we touch the screen nothing happens - changed batteries but still not working

This is usually cause by extremly hard impact which can dislodge the contacts between the Screen and its mating contact on the circuit board. This requires opening the device and attaching/repositioning the connector, whilst the divice is open you should place a small amount of hot glue on the outer part of the contact to prevent it moving. DO NOT use solvent based adhesives or super glue as this will severly damage the device. If this does not solve your problem contat me on and I will try to assist you further.

I used the wrong ac adapter on a Uniden BCD396T scanner and now it will not run on ac and won't charge the rechargeable batteries. There is the odor of a burnt resistor. It does still work using batteries...

You may have burned out any number of resistors and diodes, and may have damaged the main board, so I wouldn't trust any local guy with a soldering iron inside the BCD396T. I recommend you contact Uniden customer service through their web site, and mail the scanner to them for repair.

i dont think that the buzzer speaker is broke i believes its just off of alignment with the molding track inside the phone if your careful and you want to pursue opening it up i caution this cause this is very delicate inside static elect. can short your phone when opened

buzzer speakers are durable and hard its just ear wax and sweat in the ear piece can break down the glue they used to mount the buzzer speaker over time this and a dropped phone will displace the speaker

if you open look at mother boards sides together there should be 2 small solder points where speaker goes place speaker in a proximate to these points eye ballin it dont completly close phone yet once sound has come back to levels you want then use a little super glue to spot glue the speaker into place
but over all i wouldnt recommend opening it let the service provider tech handle that one

Phone dropped in water

Water + Phone = BAD ! Your phone is most likely damaged beyond repair if its been out for a swim. It sounds like its got some corrosion inside, when its turning off by itself. Most water-hazards is to costly to repair in comparison to getting a new phone, so your phone might work for now, but it wont get any better with time. The switch on the back-cover can be repaired with som super-glue and a little handy-work. Allthough if its the switch on the phone itself you've got a problem, since its soldered in. Then you need to take the phone in for repairs by a pro.
