Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Oven issues When I use the broiler with convection, the broiler works, but the fan does not go on. When I use the oven with or without convection, the oven never lites. In convection mode still no burner, but the fan goes on. My first thought was to replace the glow igniter, but the fan running with the convection, and not with the broiler seems to present another issue. Would that be the circuit board not functioning properly? That's almost $ 300.00 for that part. Could the fan motor be bad also? The oven used to always work, it's just in the last couple of months that it's been intermittent. I've had the oven since new for about 6 years. Do I take it out to the garage & store tools in it or is there an easy fix for this?

It is a Kitchen Aid Superba KGRT607HWH4. I also noticed last nite, that when I was using the broiler/convection setting, the fan would go on and off intermittently. I could hear a click, and the fan would start, then seconds later go off, then back on again. The click dis not seem to be coming from the fan, but from the front near the control panel.

I will replace the igniter, as that explains the oven not lighting, but should that effect the convection fan running on & off when the broiler is working?

    Thanks

I'm ordering the igniter right now! Thanks for the quick assistance!

As you seem to have the right answers, one last item. Maybe this is just aging of the unit, but the glass top that covers the controls, which for the most part is spotless, has gotten increasingly difficult to use. Meaning it seems like sometimes when you touch on, off temps, whatever, the touch screen is not very sensitive at times. I try to set a temp, my wife tries, we wash & dry hands, have the neighbor try it, and its hit or miss. Do I need to get under the glass? Tricks? Hints?

  • Foodguy Feb 26, 2008

Could you tell me if there is a way to get the control glass more responsive? Its as clean as can get, but it seems like no matter what finger you use to turn on, set temps, etc, you have to try and try. Sometimes one press will do it, sometimes, i have to go through every finger on the block, til it works.

No Bake; everything else works

Hi, When you put the oven on bake, can you see the ignitor glowing but get no flame?
Sound like the ignitor might be getting weak and not opening the gas valve. Please let me know if this sounds like the problem.
It is common for the ignitor to go bad. Even if it glows, it can be bad.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Oven and broiler: no heat

Flipped the breaker switch! Although we had looked at the breaker first thing, and it was not flipped off, plus everything else on the range was working: we found out it is actually a double breaker, with one half controlling just the oven, and it can be just partially flipped and you don't notice it. So as soon as you toggle it off and on again, you are back in full power.

Oven Not Working

It could be the element, but if neither the top or bottom element are coming on, it could be an issue with the electronics... Have you tried any of the other oven functions? Is it a convection oven? Maybe try using the convection bake or roast/convection roast functions..(roast function doesn't go through a pre-heat cycle, I have the same stove). If it's still under warranty, I would be calling for service.

The convection oven and broiler

Dear Klymer

Immediately you have a problem by the sounds of it that is related to the heating element that is inside the oven. This is evident from the fact that you say the convection van is rotating but there is no heat being produced. Now in the case of gas ovens, yo WILL CERTAINLY NEED AN APPROVED AND ACCREDITED GAS ENGINEER BY LAW. however, electric ovens are not necesessarily regulated. If the problem is in relation to a gas oven not heating, then either your gas supply or your element/ flame emitter may either be blocked or interrupted. IF THIS IS THE CASE, STOP USING THE DEVICE AND CALL OUT A GAS ENGINEER.

The other possible problem with this device could be to do with the electronic gas regulator (if your oven as one) and this is preventing gas from being recieved into the combustion nozzles within the oven. This regulator controls the amount of gas and the temperature to which the oven is to be heated to. Should this componen malfunction then it is defaulted to switch off, for obvious safety reasons.......These units are replaceable, but may cost a small fortune, and on top of this, it is advisable to call an engineer to fit this part.

You mention that you can notice the fan rotating on the digital display, but if the fan is not actually rotating, then your problem then poiints to an electrical fault which can happen if your appliance is powered on for excessive periods of time (thermal damage). Yet again, the electronics behind ovens are fairly straight forward, and usually its either the replacement of PCBs or elements that will recify many of these faults. But if you do decide to DIY jobby the repair, at least get your work checked out IT COULD SAV YOU ALOT OF MONEY AND EVEN YOUR LIFE!!!

I wish you all the best and I hope that this information was satisfactory, please do not hesitate to contact me here if you have further comments and questions, as im always on hand to answer your questions 24hrs a day 7/365 days a year. Once again good luck, and please let me know what happens
