Question about HP Photosmart R717 Digital Camera

Camera will not switch on

Could it just need a new battery? For exmaple, should I be able to power the camera from the docking station or the USB connection? What is the next course of action if it is not a faulty battery?

my camera will not turn on and the lens is stuck out a little bit. I just replaced the battery with hope that that would resolve the problem but it didn't. Any one know what to do about this?

My camera is "dead". It does not respond whether it is plugged in, or whether it is on battery.

My camera will not show power when plugged into the dock, I had power from this before. Is it the dock or my camera that isn't working properly? Thanks Joanie October 2,2008

Turn off your HP R717 digital camera. take out the battery and the media/memory card out of the camera . Get a paper clip and insert it into the small hole next to the hinge on the battery door (inside the battery/memory compartment). Push the paper clip in to press the reset switch and press for 6 seconds. Re-insert the battery and media and give it a try.

  • 2 Remove the memory card and batteries from the camera.
  • 3 Locate the reset button inside the battery door by the battery slots.
  • 4 Press and hold the straightened end of a paper clip in the reset switch.
  • 5 Wait for six seconds.
  • 6 Release the paper clip.
  • 7 Reinsert the camera's batteries. Close the battery door.
  • 8 Turn on the camera to test it.

SOURCE: Battery stuck in camera and docking station

Try putting it in the freezer for a few hours. I was able to get my battery out by doing this. The downside is there will be condensation. So make sure you allow it to dry completely before using again.

    SOURCE: HP R927 Camera

i had this problem with this camera when i had it new i would put the camera on the dock to charge and then use it then finally it wouldnt work and i realised that the camera wasnt charging. i contacted hp who i found to not be very helpful, they eventually sent me out a new battery even tho i told them i felt it wasnt the battery, of course the same thing happened with the new battery. i called them again and said i felt that there may be a loose connection in the wire going from the transformer to the dock as by messing around with it had made the light come on but as soon as i let go it went off, they agreed to send a replacement. when the replacement arrived they sent the part of the cable that plugged into mains and as such was no use, they siad they would send the right one but as yet i have not received it. =S however, by moving the wire where it plugs into the dock i have manged to get the camera to charge, it may be worth messing with the wire to see if this is the case with urs and calling for a replacement. claire xx =D

How can i update dell dock?

A docking station is an extension or addition of ports for a laptop computer. Once the portable computer is docked, you can access the docking station's ports, such as PS/2 or USB 2.0 ports, through your computer. Some docking stations have monitors that you can connect your computer to, placing your video on an external screen so you can turn off your computer's monitor and conserve some of your computer's energy. All Dell docking stations will have the same general troubleshooting steps.

Plug your laptop's power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If there is no power going to your laptop from the docking station but it works when the power adapter is plugged into the wall, the docking station is bad and needs to be replaced. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power goes on but your computer doesn't recognizes accessories such as a USB mouse--plugged into the docking station, try a different port on the station. If it works in a different port, the previous USB port is burned out. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized, you might have a corrupted docking profile. Undock the computer and dock it again once it has fully started up to reset the docking profile. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If you have an external monitor and it is not working, completely close the lid on the laptop so the image will move to the external monitor. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized and resetting the docking profile fails, update all drivers through Dell's support website and then re-dock the computer. Some of the software that runs the hardware may have become corrupted. Hope this helps

I have connected my nanomax ipod to the computer and it is not should i charge it?

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you are viewing this solution post. Thank you for choosing FixYa to solve your problem. So you have connected your Nanomax iPod to the computer and it's not charging like it's supposed to, and you want to know how you should charge it properly? There are two ways you can charge the battery - charging via your Dock Connector to USB Cable, or the Apple USB Power Adapter (which is sold separately). Here are the step by step instructions to charging your and Nanomax.

Using the Dock Connector to USB Cable
    1. Using your Dock Connector to USB Cable, plug the dock connector end to your iPod and plug the USB end to your computer. Make sure the computer you are using has a USB 2.0 port (check your computer's technical specifications to see if it's USB 2.0 certified). Most USB ports on the keyboards of laptops do not provide enough power to perform charging activities. If you have a Docking Station, plug the docking connector into the station and placed the iPod in the station as well.
    2. Make sure your computer is fully awake and not asleep (meaning in sleep mode).
    3. A fully charged battery takes 3 hours to complete. An 80% charged battery takes an hour and 30 minutes. The battery is charging when it shows the charging icon (a battery not fully shaded in green, with a lightning bolt). The battery is done charging when the "fully charged" icon shows (a green-shaded battery with a 2-prong plug showing).
    4. When you are done, disconnect the cable from your computer.
Using the Apple USB Power Adapter
    1. Connect the Alternating Current (AC) Plug Adapter with the power adapter (if connected already, skip this step).
    2. Using your Dock Connector to USB Cable, connect the dock connector end to your iPod and the USB end to the power adapter.
    3. Plug the power adapter into a polarized wall outlet or surge protector outlet.
I think you connected everything correctly, but the USB port on your computer did not have enough power to charge your battery. If that's the case, you will have to find a computer that has a USB 2.0 port on it (like a desktop PC or MAC, or a car adapter charging device) and connect to it, or use the USB Power Adapter (sold seperately). I think this pretty much answers your question. I hope this benefits you the best way possible. Once again, thank you for choosing Fixya as your one-stop solution spot for your problems. Have a good day, evening or night; whatever time you are viewing this, and visit us again the next you need assistance troubleshooting.

My kodak eastyshare z760 flashes red when on the battery charger but yet, the battery never shows fully charged.

I had the same problem. I needed to take the clear plastic insert off but then I had to put a rubber band around the dock and camera (more on the left of the camera and dock) to hold it evenly on there since the camera was leaning on the right and wasn't charging for me. Now it charges as soon as I put it on there with the rubber band with no blinking red light anymore! Hope this helps!

Remove Any Docking Stations or Port Replicators From the Computer Note: Docking stations and port replicators are optional equipment. If you are unsure if you have a docking solution attached to your computer, refer to Table 1 and Table 2 for examples. To remove the docking station or port replicator, perform the following steps: Shut down the computer. Remove the docking station: Universal Docking Stations: Disconnect the docking station's USB cable from the computer. D/Port or D/Dock: Remove any cable locks from the security slot on the right side of the docking station. Move the slide lock forward to the unlocked position. Press the Eject button and lift the computer from the docking station. C/Port II or C/Dock II: Remove any cable locks from the security slot on the left side of the docking station. Pull the locking lever forward until it stops to eject the computer, then slide the computer out of the docking station. When I put camera on docking it win,t show charge

First, the dock will charge only the batteries that came with the device; not other rechargeable batteries.
Be sure that the Kodak battery is inserted correctly, the door is closed securely, and that the camera is securely seated in the dock with the power cord secure to both the dock and the AC outlet. The USB cord does not supply power to the dock.
    Hope this helps.

    Docking station does not synchronise

Possible faulty connection between docking station and camera. Depending on age of the camera- send it back for replacement from the seller or contact Casio. Does this model have a removable memory card? If so invest in a card reader - very cheap and more reliable than docking stations.
