Try to go to safe mode first, after that, shut it down and reboot to normal mode, usually it will work.
If it don't work, go to safe mode and move your files/data to d partition and after that reload using alt+F10

Black screen

The game has probably screwed up the configuration. They do sometimes.
Press the power button and just before the machine tries to boot press the F8 key. That should allow you to restore or repair your machine. If there is absolutely no display, get it repaired under warranty.

Hi, I am starting my acer 5920 and a screen windows error recovery is displayed asking me to launch startup repair, but when I push enter, if goes blank and returns to the page. How can I start?

If you have a windows operating disc this is what it is searching for to perform repairs, put the disc in and reboot, then after error message press enter and it should perform repairs, but that being said I need to know the operating system

Black screen after turn on

That "Blue Screen" is also known as "Blue screen of Death".

The problem is due driver compatibilty or unstablity.

Try to boot your system to "Safe Boot" by pressing F8 during startup.
Select "Last know good Configuration that works"
Check if it can take you to desktop.
Unstalled the wi-fi driver and reboot.

If the above procedure fails, again
Try to boot your system to "Safe Boot" by pressing F8 during startup.
Select "Safe boot"
Check if it can take you to desktop.
Unstalled the wi-fi driver and reboot.

Now create a restore point  and download the lastest version of your WI-Fi driver and installed.

This should work fine.

Otherwise Backup all your important data from your hard drive (mainly opearting system file installed drive usually C:\) and go for a new Installation.

When I turn on my Acer laptop it goes straight to an all black screen with a small blue screen asking me for a password. How do I fix this and have I lost all of my data?

Hi,

All your data is still there but somehow you have set a power on (BIOS) password.

Your going to have to try remember the password or ask someone who used the laptop last if they set a password.

If you can't remember the password then you have to remove the main battery and AC power and then open the laptop up and locate the CMOS battery and remove it for 30 minutes. (you will void any warranty doing this)

Once you have done that you will need to reset the date and time.
The only other option is to send it to Acer for them to reset but it will cost in excess of $100 plus VAT.

Good luck.

Black screen on startup!

By the sounds of it you've install an update that could have gone wrong. i'm not sure if it's the same with all acers but it might be keep pressing F8 and try logging into windows via through safemode if you can't do this then you could have corrupted some stuff on the motherboard and i would contact Acer customer support
