Question about Kenmore 63942 Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer not drying due to no heat. We just had recent heavy snow and i have roof vent so i thought that may have been the problem. After checking further, the problem is due to no heat coming out. It tumbles and blows cold air though. I disconnected the vent at the back of the dryer and put my hand down to feel the temp while switching to various heat temps.. All blow cold.. sure would appreciate any help.. I checked the basic manual info i found on the internet and couldn't come up with anything. not sure if i have a fuse on the dryer itself. help? Thanks in advance, Brian

Since this is a gas dryer turn it on and listen for 30 seconds for a clicking noise. That will be for the burners ignitor. If no clicks are heard the ignitor is at fault

I would recommend calling a technician. Could be as you said a bad sensor. Make sure the sensor bars are clean. Use an alcohol pad or cloth and clean them.

Maytag model #: med5770tq0 won't dry. Please help

Dear Emily.
Several problems.
First, did this dryer ever work properly hooked up as it is?
I mean hooked to the roof event?
If it used to work just fine, then I suspect the vent to the roof is clogged with lint and is not allowing the heat to escape.
If it never did work right,(for example: it is new to us) then I'd venture dryers are not supposed to vent their hot air that far away, they do not have a strong enough blower to push that air that distance.
Then, you might try to find another place to vent the hot air, with a total distance of only 10 feet from the dryer, even if you only vented it while you were actually drying clothers.
I doubt if the last item is for you, but I have sometimes seen where the washing machine did not spin all the water out of the clothes, and then the dryer needed all day to get the clothes dry.
Be blessed.

My GE Profile dryer is taking up to 2 hours to dry a load of clothes. My electric bill is ridiculously high, and it is all due to this dryer. What could be wrong? I've already cleaned the lint trap and...

We had the same problem and we had cleaned the vent but the problem was the vent was packed from inside the wall up to the
roof. Our dryer is not vented through the wall and oustside it is vented through the wall and up to the roof our was cloged up to
the screen in the roof. We used fridge brush with hard brissles a
ajustable handle dust mop that gave us the length we needed and
a wet dry vac you would not believe how much lint was packed into
the vent pipe if you need more info email me.

You vent could be the problem. Snow blocking the vent can cause the dryer heat to shut down rapidly. Make sure your vent is open to the outside. Get some windex and clean them moisture sensors inside the machine. If a film developes on them then moisture cannot be detected by the control. It might think the clothes are dry and shut her down. Dryer will produce heat but will not dry clothes

Greetings,
several things to check...i usually pull the vent off of dryer and run load of cloths..if it drys ok...we know the vent was the issue..if its vented to the roof..the screen usually gets stopped up inside the hood. if it still doe's not dry with the vent off. there has to be an air circulation problem.. Check the blower wheel fitting tight enough...they come loose, but normally have noise along with it...

My ler4634eqo throws heat but takes 1 1/2 to dry cothes

before you look at the dryer , check your venting. 80% of all our dryer calls are a result of poor airflow. Vent connector between dryer and main vent or outside wall should be 4" rigid metal or heavy metal flex. Dryer manufacturers consider plastic, vinyl and foil to be improper due to their tendency to crimp and flatten easily. Vent coluld also be stopped up.
Check outside exhaust opening to be sure it is not clogged or otherwise closed. Best way to check vent sometimes is to pull dryer out, remove vent and run a load of clothes. If drying time is significantly better, then venting is your problem.
