PSP No picture or sound

Was working fine and all the sudden no picture or sound. No problem with charging. Is there a reset button or something. Not sure what happened.

Bought my PSP on May 6, was workin fine, until yesterday the pic would mess up, and turn all black.

I was using my headphones to listent to music when the sound crapped out, but it wouldn't return when I unplugged the phones. Aside from it not being able to read discs properly, my PSP works almost perfectly fine. It just has no sound whatsoever.

Hey guys, I accidentally dropped my PSP (hasn't been the first time) but the battery also came out, which is a first, and now there is no video or sound feed :*( Its weird because it still says there is power when I have the battery in but no sound or video as I stated. If someone can help me figure it out to fix it, because new Metal Gear Solid game comes out next month, I want to be able to play it when it gets here. Please email me at keeblertheelf@hotmail.com for what I need to do since I don't really have the money to shell out to fix it for whatever Sony wants. Its a 1000 model if that helps. Hope to hear from someone soon!!!

I have the same problem but the guy at sony said that the "BRAINS" of the psp was erased when my psp ran out of power while a system update so to get it fixed is around 89.00 bucks but theres another site that you pay 9.99+ship and hand and for dionostic so if they figure what is wrong with it they charge your account. Hmmm.....sounds like you psp may have died, however, try taking the battery out and putting it back in. that is basically a reset to the system.

When i was playing my psp it suddenly turned off so i thought it is out of charge.i charged it then i saw it was full charge so i unplug the charger when i unplug the charger it suddenly turned off.It only...

It sounds like you have either a dead (broken) battery or your battery isn't making good contact with the motherboard.

Remove your battery and make sure there is nothing stuck in the terminal slots. Also make sure the metal contacts in the batter chamber of the PSP are clean. Then replace the battery.

Give it a little extra push on the back of the battery after you put it in near the battery terminals to make sure you get a solid connection.

If it still doesn't work then you may have a bad battery and will have to replace it. They can be found on ebay fairly cheap. (dont buy the $3 ones though they last about 10 minutes.)

My psp was working before but now it suddenly hanged up..i cant use it now..how can i reformat my psp?? do you know some ways???

Hello :

  1. Remove the battery from the left side of the PSP while it is still on. The unit will power down instantly. Wait ten seconds and then replace the battery.
  2. Press both clear shoulder buttons at the top of the PSP and keep them held while the PSP reboots. A "Recovery" mode will be initiated.
  3. Press down on the control pad to locate a "recovery" folder. This will contain all of your PSP content, including games, music, videos and podcasts that are saved on the device. Highlight this folder and press the "X" button to begin reinstalling your content.

Warnings
  • If you would like to reset your PSP while it is working normally, you can do so by going to the Settings menu and selecting "System Reset." This will get rid of all your content and restore the PSP to factory settings (and subsequently remove all of your content.)

Or try this for hard resetting :

  1. Locate your Power button on your PSP. Push the power button up for 10 seconds.
  2. The PSP will and should shut off. Leave the PSP off for 30 seconds.
  3. Turn your PSP back on by flicking the power button up very quickly. If it doesn't turn on, try pushing the power button forward very quickly again. (sometimes you have to do it 2-3 times)
  4. Your PSP should be working now. If not, then you may have a firmware problem.
Warning:
  • Do not have your PSP plugged into a power supply.
  • If your PSP doesn't turn off after 10 seconds (of power button being help up) then remove your battery and wait 30 seconds, and then replace
good luck .

rate please !

Sounds like the screen is bad and if you charged up your battery and the PSP won't turn on then your battery needs to be replaced as well.

Black Screen on PSP Slim

Hi,

Take out the battery of your PSP, wait 30 seconds and then reinsert it. Then start the PSP up without the charger in it. If the problem still occurs, try holding the brightness button (rectangle icon near select button) for 10 seconds. I hope this works for you.
