I have a Uniden bc95xlt scanner! it is less than 1 yr. old. it will lock on to a channel and not unlock to continue scanning. I can't find my paperwork to prove age of scanner! Pls. Help!

Hi Jan,

It sounds to me as if your scanner is locking on to a 'BIRDIE', which is an internally generated frequency in the scanner, all scanners have this by default, your user manual usually has a page, near the back of the manual, with known 'birdies', and there a lots.

When your scanner locks onto a 'BIRDIE', which is a frequency with no voice audio, the best thing to do is press Lockout button, during the scan, your scanner will, if there is no other problem with it, continue to scan, until it finds another 'BIRDIE', then you do the same thing as I've described, until you've locked out all the 'BIRDIES'.

I hope this info was useful.

My cobra 18 wx st comes on and goes tru all channels but has no noise at all coming thru it. none of the signal strength lights come on or anything. its brand new.

Sounds like a antenna issue. Make sure coax is in good order.and antenna is connected properly. You might have to get a "swr" meter to put in line between radio and antenna to make sure antenna is "tuned" to were the radio is operating. Radio shack sells a ok low budget swr/power meter.

RCI 2995DX Had it peaked tuned and realigned plus modulation upgrade done. Some times people say I am over driving and I sound splattered and other times people say its perfect. What could cause this?

People have different idea's of what sounds good. Some people thing that loud and over modulated sounds good, Also, distance has something to do with it too. Some one close is going to hear it more if you are over modulated, where as too some one far away it may not sound over modulated because of the distance.

Also, if some one is really close, then you will sound over modulated, even when you don't. It is not due to over modulation. It is because you are over loading their receive section of the radio because you are close.

You need to have some one you know, and trust as a good judge of audio and do some checks with them. If some one says you sound over modulated, and splattering, you probably are if they are not really close to you. Back it down until they say it has stopped.

When radio is keyed up the RX/TX ligh changes to red but not movement on the needle gauge and also i have no backround noise when squelch is turned off but other times the whole radio will work fine just...

Sounds like you have an intermittent antenna problem.
Open the case and check the wire that goes between the antenna connector and the circuit board. Check both ends of the wire and make sure both ends are securely soldered. If OK, make sure the coax cable is good. Inspect the antenna installation for problems.

Not really enough information given to precisely locate the problem.

How do turn a stock one up? cobra 29ltd and a night watch 25

We all know one is not "supposed" to up the power on a standard CB to more than 4 puny Get your favorite local technician to do a good combination of power/modulation final tuning. Excellent modulation is what really makes the difference, along with a strong power mike. Cobras are known for good quality modulation! Thanks, Bill

Can you tell me if a galaxy 33hml is a good radio it has been converted to cb channels and is priced for 100.00 but needs the lights fixed and i don't really want to buy a radio that is out dated or isn't...

If I were to spend the money I would not buy used such as this. Would recommend buying new with money back guarantee. Radio Shack would be a good place to check out some prices.

Want to build a fox hunt antenna or fox hunt kit

I know some one who has built some really good fox hunt antenna's. However, things of this nature are usually kept secret. For instance, i have known him a while, and he trusts me, but he still will not give me any info on how he has made them.

It will be hard to find any one freely giving this info up.

Cobra 200GTL: Clarifier affects TX

Unfortunately, most people look to unlock the clarifier in radio's it is locked in.

From what I understand it is possible to lock it in that radio, however I do not know it because I usually unlock it in my radio's.

I also did a search, and asked a few people I know who are also very good with radio's and they do not know either. The only thing I found was this, and you have to pay this shop to do it.

Two way radios

Well, As long as you are not using them all over the place, and are just using them privately, you should be fine, unless they are operating on HAM bands.

If you are just talking about 2 professional walkie talkies, then you should be ok.

The chances of the FCC bothering you are slim to none considering there are only 16 field offices in the usa.

those licenses are really for big companies etc.

If you are using them privately and not for business, you have nothing to worry about.

only other thing you can use is GMRS, ones you buy at walmart or a sporting goods place, but other people with the same radio can listen in.
