If you have on board sound, then the drivers are on the Gateway website under support and downloads. If they are from a third party sound card you will have to get them from the sound card distributors website.

You can reinstall the sound drivers from the Gateway recovery management, to do so:

Start Menu> All Programs> Gateway recovery management> Restore> Restore Application & Drivers> Contents> Select Realtek and install it

OR

Visit http:\\support.gateway.com

No sound after reinstallation of os for my gateway gt5242e pc xp

Looks like you need drivers for your audio hardware, unfortunately, Gateway's support site (now affiliated with Acer) does not provide the drivers directly, instead they provide a driver update utility that will hopefully find the right drivers to get your sound working again.http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?ref=nofind&ct=fn&param=gtwupd.exeHope it helps.
