Question about Symbol LS2208 Handheld

HPLS2208 needs enter after scan

Our office has ordered two different sets of the HPLS2208 at different times (same model number). In our application one of the scanners needs an enter after the scan and the scanners purchased with the second batch do not need an enter after the scan. Do you know why the same model number would react differently in the same application? We did not do any specific configuration with either batch...just plug and play.

Check to see if there is a scan book that came with it. It will allow you to program the scanner to automatically read the code and enter after every scan.

Click start control panel administrative tools computer management then select event viewer this may vary depending on what operating system you have
extend the events there you will see errors in red you will no what exactly what the error was and at what time it occured
Right click on the error message select properties you will see all details about the error
or click start type in event viewer press ENTER

In the Default location for PST files box, you can use environment variables such as %USERPROFILE%. For example, you can give the location %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\.

However, you cannot specify a file name instead. For example, you cannot specify %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\%USERNAME%.PST.
If you do this, an error occurs when you try to start Outlook.

What does Fixed Dialling Numbers mean?


Fixed Dialing Numbers or FDN list is a SIM card based security feature which allows the phone to be "locked" so that it can only dial certain numbers, or numbers with certain prefixes.

A PIN2 code (numeric password) protects the allowed list of numbers from being changed by any person who does not know the PIN2 code.

In FDN mode, your device will restrict outgoing calls, except for the numbers stored in the FDN list.

To activate FDN mode,
1.) In idle mode, open the application list and select Settings ? Call settings ? Fixed Dialling Numbers ? Enable FDN.

2.) Enter the PIN2 supplied with your SIM or USIM card and select OK.

3.) Select FDN list and add contacts to be used in FDN mode.

To De-activate

1.) In idle mode, open the application list and select Settings ? Call settings ? Fixed Dialling Numbers ? Disable FDN.

2.) Enter the PIN2 supplied with your SIM or USIM card and select OK.

Warning: PIN2 is a serious SIM-based security feature of the handset. If you are not sure of your PIN2, please do not enter random PIN2. When you access a menu requiring the PIN2, you must enter the PIN2 supplied with the SIM or USIM card. Contact your service provider/ Network for your PIN2. If the wrong PIN2 code is entered three times in a row, PIN Lock(PUK2) will be automatically activated.

Is my old Lexmark x5470 compatible with MS Office Professional 2007?


MS Office is only bundled set of Office applications software eg. Winword, Excel, etc.......It had nothing to do with the compatibility isuses with any devices like printers, fax or scanmner, etc....

Compatibility isuses are with the Operating Systems (OS) eg.XP,Vista, Win 7 ... on your PCs. Different OS require different versions of Devices "Drivers & software" . If you can successfully install your device Drivers & software for the AIO "Lexmark x5470" on your PC Operating System, you should be able to print, scan or fax from MS Office applications.

if you're using a full version, the packaging that came with the office disc installer would have the product key or a card that includes the information for it that you can enter. make sure your date and time settings on the computer are correct and you may also need to reinstall the application

Scanning is extremly slow


What interface? If it is a USB interface the scanner sends the numbers the same as if you had entered them on the keyboard. If you do just enter the barcode (need to know format actually sent to application) numbers does it also respond slow?
Plug the scanner into another PC/laptop, open notepad and scan a barcode, does it scan fast?
The POS application, if it is windows, open notepad and scan the barcode, does it scan faster.
It is likely the POS application that is responding slow.

For the POS applicaton:
- Is scan database local or on the network.
- Have you maintained the scan database? Re-index, compacting, etc

#1 You need the Vmac and Comserv applications that were deleted when you cleared memory in order to perform an IP download. Without them you can only perform a dial only download.
#2 The programming for your VX510 will not load in your VX610 because they doth identify to the server as different models. If you did get the vx610 to connect and request your vx510 file you would only recieve an error "Application not configured" or "file not found"

Pro Tip: You can still clone VX terminals reguardless of model with the correct cable. Enter system mode and press 0 the # or 0 then * to send and recieve. This would put the application from the vx510 into the vx610 but your vx610 may not work through a com method other than dial depending on your processor.

Yes, you actually need to purchase the full version of microsoft office, and then you will get your own product key. To use other peoples keys is a crime. And, it won't work.

Eager To Learning MS Access


The easiest and fastest way to learn the basics of any of the main office programs is with multimedia tutorials. Ranging 5-10 times faster than text. More can be learned in this way in a shorter time.
In regards to VBA, if you only want to work with macros and scripts within an application, a minimal knowlege is all that is necessary. If you are wanting to use VBA across applications, you will need a little more depth of knowlege (at least in my case) is needed. May I suggest Microsoft's 'inside out' series of books. It looks intimidating but you only need the section you are studying.
There is something special about getting tutorials and learning information from the actual program manufacturer. They are the authority and free.
Okay, my suggestion is to first go to Microsofts website and view the tutorials available for your application: MS Office tutorials
Then, if you find your thirst for knowledge unquenched:

  • Third party online tutorials are often quite good. But often the depth knowledge like VBA will turn into a 'tips and tricks' rather than the foundation needed.
  • Get some of the multimedia learning, all it takes is a few 20 minute segments. Titles like Mastering Access 2003 by Magic Media, includes VBA.
Learning some of these applications can be very daunting. It is estimated that your typical user will use only around 10% of the programs capabilities. And they keep adding capabilities! Anyway start easy and work your way up to the complexity you want.
For the other users that have similiar problems, the real answer is to learn the above. But to convert numbers to words you need to redefine the field as text, and enter numbers.
And if you are setting up a search criteria for multiple text boxes using IF condition, it depends on what you are comparing. If you are comparing to a set quantity it would look something like this: IF field/text box = "Fixya" THEN performed action. Endif. If you are comparing two or more text boxes to each other it may look something like this: IF field/textboxA = fieldtextboxB or fieldtextboxC THEN action Else action. Endif
