Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera
When I turn on my camera and take offf the lens cap the viewfinder is black and I can't see the object that I want to take a picture of. I can see the menu and the settings. I would really like some kind of info so I can start using the camera again.
To those of you having the problems with the black screen or a "jumbled colors" screen. There is a recall on this camera for that problem. I work for a Police Department and we bought 12 of these cameras. We have already had to send back 9 of them for this problem. Here is the link for the form dealing with the recall. They will repair it for free in about two weeks. Just follow the instructions.

If you're asking about the electronic viewfinder (where you put your
eye to the back of the camera), that can be turned on/off via the SEL
button at the button right corner of the viewfinder. In fact, the LCD
screen staying on/off is selected with the same button. Press it three
times to cycle through the various modes of "viewing". If the
viewfinder or LCD stays off after cycling through the SEL button
selections, I would say your camera needs to be serviced at a repair
I hope this helps!
