I just purchased a 12"

Did you purchase your subwoofer from a retail location or online? If it was local, I would take it back. It sounds like a blown subwoofer. Pull the subwoofer out and smell it. If there is a burned smell, the coil was blown. This would also explain why the cone was not moving, just vibrating. Now the other possibility is the amplifier. Check the fuses and check where you grounded the amp. If you can use a multimeter, use it to check your ground. If it does happen to be a blown subwoofer, you should be able to exchange it (from retail), online takes more time but can be done. However, if you purchased from an individual and the equipment is used, there isn't a whole lot to help with. Good Luck.

The speaker isnt blown but i am getting no sound from only one speaker

i had the same prob in my friends car. check the wire connection at the sub itself. excess vibration could loosen it. or check the rca cables also.

My blaupunkt rear right speaker just stopped giving out any sound ..it started with a tearing sound at high volumes with bass intensive songs. then next day no sound at all. left speaker works fine. Help...

As shown in the picture double check the vibration flexible wire connecting to the center, you cannot see it on your naked eyes, use tester to prove the connection, use soldering iron to reattached the broken circuit, be responsible for the connection, put in mind that it is vibrating too heavy...

Rear Speaker Vibrations

just right off hand does your rear speakers have a port so that air traped can be released if you port your box sound would get better
air inside of a speaker box has no where to go so it bounces off the speaker makin it vibrate out perfect harmony

also some stations and cd's can have a bad tune too them or signal which can give distortion greatly not appreciated sound
but i would go with the port suggestion first
when i built my first speaker box from scratch i found out the smaller the box the more air would dammage the speakers so i ported the boxes sound increased so much better
bigger the box better the air flow and bass

Voice coil has been blown open. Most likely alot of times what I do to test a speaker is connect it to a 9 volt battery. on and off and the speaker should bounce. If not speaker is blown. Plus this way you could save yourself lots of problems. If the speaker was shorted and not blown open. You would now possible have a blown amp and home stereo.
