Color printing from Windows XP Photoprinting Wizard

With Windows XP color management set to "Automatic" and using Windows XP Photoprinting Wizard, I get prints with brownish/palish flesh tones. If I set Windows XP color management to "Manual" (say sRGB), I get good colors. Any idea why? Thanks -- Fred J. color is distorted and pale

Just dirrerent intrepertations by the driver.
Often times "auto" settings are not the best to use.
You can default it to the best management solution for your computer/printer matchup.
Sounds like a weasly answer I know, but it is amazing how much different those will operate one system to another.
Another suggestion, color normally prints better with a PS, Post Script, driver then a PCL , driver. You may want to go ont the website for your printer and see if there is more then one driver, and switch drivers to see what happens.
Subtle differences in drivers can make a difference how printers print also.
Most of the times it's finding where your printer works best.
It is not necessarly a problem if one setting works better for you over another. Just nuances on different systems.
Please don't take this as a wise comment, but that is why all those adjustments are on drivers and printers, sometimes you just have to modify to get what you really want quality wise.
Hope this helps.

My brother MFC 240C was set for printing only black and white, since I had only installed a black cartridge. Now I have installed the three color cartrdiges also. How do I change the settings to print...

You have to change the settings in your print driver. In Windows XP or Vista, go into the Control Panel and the Printers & Faxes applet. Right click on the Brother print driver and select Properties. In one of the tabs there should be an option for either Grayscale or Color printing (probably under Color Management) -- change this to Color and then click OK or Apply to save the changes.

By changing it in the print driver settings, the change should take effect for all programs that you print from.

HP LaserJet 1500... prints color yellow ONLY

It's possible that the toner in the cartridge is not evenly distributed. You can redistribute toner if you gently shake the cartridge from side to side, then reinstall it to see if this affects performance. Please also see this article.
You might wish to use the guided troubleshooting option available from HP support here. Or have a look at the troubleshooting section in the user manual here. Then clean the engine & calibrate the printer, as described pg. 88.
If that's no help, please see this forum post and the linked attachments within.

Can't print in color on my Canon printer

If you go here you can download or view a manual for your printer, with detailed instructions on changing the print cartridge settings in windows or mac.
If you go here, you'll be taken to the home support page for your printer, where you can enter a search for "print in color", and detailed instructions will follow.
You go to control panel>printers>print preferences> and uncheck the grayscale printing and set the color to auto.
Issue: Image prints black and white instead of color....See below.
Solution: Uncheck Grayscale Printing checkbox (Windows)

Unchecking Grayscale Printing Follow the steps below to change the Grayscale Printing option:
  1. On the Windows desktop, click 'Start', point to 'Settings', then click 'Printers' (Windows XP: On the Start menu, click 'Printers and Faxes').

For Windows Vista: Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
  2. Windows 2000/XP/Vista: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Printing Preferences'. Windows 98/Me: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Properties'.

  3. On the Main tab, click on the 'Grayscale Printing' check-box to remove the check-mark.

  4. Click the 'OK' button to save the setting.

its possible that in your printing preferences you have black and white selected. you can also try reinstalling the drivers for your printers, first uninstall them and then install the drivers again preferably newest drivers from the makers website.

The TekColor correction options provide simulations of different color devices. Automatic is the default correction for general image processing. Use the following table to determine what option you want to use.

sRGB Vivid: Produces brighter, more saturated colors than sRGB Display. Press Match SWOP Press: Matches specifications for Web Offset Publications.
Euroscale: Matches Fogra glossy paper specification.
Commercial: Approximates U.S. commercial press target.
SNAP Press: Matches specifications for Newsprint Advertising Production. None Applies no color correction. Use with other color management tools, such as International Color Consortium (ICC) profiles, ColorSync, or the PANTONE Color Chart for the printer. Solution: Manually adjust color from the driver (Windows)

Manual Color Adjustment Follow the steps below to make fine adjustments to the color hue for the printed output. These settings will only make minor color adjustments. If more drastic color adjustment is necessary, use an image editing application.
  1. On the Windows desktop, click 'Start', point to 'Settings', then click 'Printers' (Windows XP: On the Start menu, click 'Printers and Faxes', Windows Vista Click / Select Start from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'.).

  3. On the Main tab, select 'Manual' for 'Color Adjustment.'

  4. On the Manual Color Adjustment screen, adjust each color individually to achieve the desired effect.
