Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

RCA P46730WK no power

I got this set for free, and have been repeatedly assured that it was in perfect working condition when I picked it up. The power cord had been misplaced by the previous owner, so I ordered a new one along with a new remote. The set will not turn on with either remote (old or new) nor with the power button on the front panel. The glass fuse near the power input appears to be okay - no fog on the glass, intact filament.

I've spoken to a local repair shop, and will likely be sending the tv to them for inspection and estimate. I've heard that it might be the "splitter" or "flyback".

Whatever the problem is likely to be, is it possible that it occured while we were moving the set from one house to the other? We were very careful while moving it, and it was strapped securely in the truck. I guess my main question other than the cause of the problem is whether the set was actually working properly when I picked it up, or if the guy "conveniently" lost the power cord so I couldn't test the set to confirm it operated properly.

Like I said, I got it for free. So spending a little money to get it working properly isn't too big of a deal. What would be a reasonable amount to pay for your repair/tune-up suggestions?

Thanks for your help, this site is wonderful resource for us uneducated consumers.

The price to pay for a TV repair or any other appliance is 1/3 of the price of the appliance.
Try to find out how much the TV cost before and how much will it cost now if functional and make a decision base on that.
Good Luck.

Timing off

If the worm gear is located on the bottom of machine that has link connected to the bobbins and shuttle case. Before you engage the two gear the worm gear and the helical gear besure to adjust the position of the needle holder at the lowest dead center position and the bobbins and shuttles case was hooked up properly with the needle no thread inside also unplug the ac source before doing this.Assuming all at zero time order, you can freeely move the shuttle case with the bobbins at the center of the needle because there are no link connection when you disengage
the two gear. After setting up all at rest gradually engage the two gear and tight the allen screw no motion at all linkage when doing this otherwise changes of set up will occurs you can't get the perfect time order. If all are set, manually by hand rotate handwheel gradually if there obtruction on motion of all parts, they should be freely move on the right rotation.if OK put thread on bobbins winder set to bobbins and upper threat top spool.Set the proper tension on both lower and upper thread acquired to fabric, try too hook up the lower tension manually, If ok sew cotton fabric as trial manually only no power supply yet

if it wasnt for the rca itc222 if wouldnt have nothing to do LOL.. seriously at the shop i do alot of these i guess that a good testomony for this set. this set has a processor that monitors about 20 to 25 different conditions. low voltage high voltage high current etc. loss of power. then if it sees a problem it shuts the set down for safety. the dificulty is dertermineing which one of these is the shutdownn condition. In the shop we have a computer interface much like an automobile to look up the error codes. in general though its a high voltage problem..l first look at the horizontal output transisor to see if it shorted. the flyback could be a problem too. those are the first thing i check. if the light flashes you can be assure of one thing its not a main fuse. the processor is getting power.

I have same set with same problem, no power. I just opened up the rear of the unit, where all of the circuitry is, and let loose a can of compressed air and cleaned off all of the caked on dust and dirt that had accumulated from the previous owner. And i mean let loose, make sure every surface you can see is spotless, and avoid blowing the dust up and ito the lenses, then I kept hitting the power button a few times, and it turned on and is working fine now.

I turned it on and off about ten times now and haven't had a problem.

Hope this helps.

first thing you did not mention anything about the sound, if you are getting good sound .if you are not getting good sound associated with the problem you are having.the tech who you carry the set to ,did not check the tuner and the IF circuit there is where the sound and video originate from.if the sound is good then they should have looked in the video circuit a ic conrols that section.i would advice that you take it back and mention it to them.these set are the one that have thier tuner built on the board.and like to have that type of problem sometimes soldering around the tuner casing will solve the problem.good luck, any other question contact me on my email nicodhem@yahoo.co or on this same website.
