I have searched the internet, contacted Toshiba and distributors that they gave me and no one has a copy of this manual available as the item is no longer being sold...do you know where else I could look or who else to contact?

Hello I've the user manual for your Toshiba cobo. But I can't send it to you by this window, as it does not allow me to upload PDF files by it. If you send your Email address to me by Fixya comment box, I'll send a copy of it to you by return mail. OK.
There are also many universal remotes that will work. Just make sure to research and make sure you select a model that has codes for combination TV/VCR units. Many manuals and code lists are available online from their manufacturer. There are some remotes that do not handle combination units.
I found this to work on my Toshiba TV/VHS combo MV19M4 after trying others suggestions that had worked on similar models but nothing worked on mine. Maybe it will work for yours. Follow these steps:
1: Unplug the TV for 1 minute then plug it back in.
2: In the menu select "TV Set Up".
3: Move the blinking block to beside "V-CHIP Set" BUT DO NOT SELECT IT.
4: Hold in the number 1 button on the remote.
5: Hold in the volume down button on the TV.
Your TV will turn off. Give it a few seconds to reset itself and then turn it back on and you will have to completely reprogram your settings. When you go to the V-CHIP settings it will ask for your new code.
