You will need to get into menu and enable the external speakers. Some older TV may have a switch at the back to turn the external speakers ON.

Unless the TV itself has separate speaker outputs, then you will have to work through an audio receiver which can be hooked up to run the audio signal through the unit and into speakers.

Tip

No sound, video OK in TVs

PICTURE IS OK AND THERE IS NO SOUND IN tvS

There are some occations arise when picture in a TV will be OK while absensce of sound.
Picure is OK, means that, functions from tuner upto video output, including power supply are OK. In most cases absence of sound may be with the fault to its speaker or speakers. In some sets there will be two speakers connected in series connection, and its sound output will be MONO. In these type of sets, if the connction is done as above, even one speaker has gone out [that is its voice coil or its connection gets opened, both speakers will not work]. In this case, you have to check each speakers individually for coil conitnuity, and the faulty one must be replaced. If there is no fault to the audio amplifier section of that TV, the problem will be solved with this.
In stereo sound system TVs, two of its speakers will have individual amplifiers, some may have both amps sections are integrated in one IC or two ICs are used seperately for each channel. In this type of sets, absenece of sound can be either to the fault of the failure audio output IC or its supply line voltage. In most cases, you can make sure the reason with a simple test without opening the set. Place your ear very close to its speaker side, and switch ON the set by its front panel power control switch. if a "Thumb' sound is heard form the speaker, you can confirm that the speaker is OK, and the power supply is comming to the output IC. If so, check the output IC terminal solderings for some loose contact. During long run, this may happen because, the Audio Output IC will heat up during working, and repeated heating and cooling may make loose soldering at its terminals; or a loose fixation of the IC to its metal heatsink, will relult overheating the IC. In most cases this is found a common fault. To rectify this, you have to open your TV, and pull out the audio output card, in some sets, this audio output section swill be built on the main board itself, place it upside down, and resolder all the terminals of the output IC by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridges in between terminals of the IC. If this also doesn't help you, check the input voltage of the audio output IC. In most sets there will be a fuse resistor used as protection, will be in 0.2Ohms in value, and will get opend thus disconnect the supply; if IC has some fault. This will happen when the output IC itsef get shorted. If you see this resistor opend, check the output ICs positive supply rail terminal to the negative terminals' resistance with the help of an Ohm meter, if foud very low, say between 0 Ohms and 5 Ohms, make sure that the IC has got damaged. Here you have to repalce the IC and this fuse resistor too.
When replacing the audio output IC, make sure to apply thermal conductive paste, in between IC and it heat sink. This conductive paste can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops at your town.
There is an other possibility too, is, the audio filtering stage in the video IF stage get faulty. To detect this, you have to go to the VIF section, and it is a skilled job, and the worker must have sound knoledge in electronics, and service experience.

How do I get the sound back on the TV lcd42911fhd3d

Check the speaker/s first. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

Lg tv audio static

Check the speaker first. Connect an other speaker in place, and make sure that the speaker inside it is OK. If it is found OK, then check and replace damaged component/s at its audio output stage circuit. Check for any loose solder terminals at the audio output stage circuit. It will be best to resoder all the suspected solder terminals there, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjacent solder terminals. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

Kdl-32v4000 sound

Check the speaker first. Check if there is any sound output comes from the audio out terminals at the back of the TV, by connecting them to any external audio out devices; such as an amplifier or so. If there is audio output comes from the external source such connected, and no audio output from the TV; since the speakers are good, the fault is with the audio output section circuit inside the TV. If there is no audio output from the external sources too, the fault is with the audio processing section circuit at the main board. If this is the case, main board is faulty, and should be replaced.

NO Audio / picture OK .

Hello
First check whether the mute function is ON. If so make it OFF. If it is in OFF, and still there is no sound output from your tV, check its speaker first. You can check it by using a torch cell and two pieces of wires. Connect the wires at the both terminals of the battery, and touch the other end of the wire to, two terminals of the speaker. If the speaker is good, a 'thumb' sound will be heard from it. If no such sound, speaker is faulty. Replace the speaker with same type and number.
If the speaker is good, ans still there is no sound, the audio output section of your TV has the trouble. The most common faults to this section are Output IC damage, and loose soldering points. Check whether there is any loose soldering points in the audio output card. Especially check the solder terminals of the audio output IC. This IC will heat up whild it sorks, and repeated heating and cooling make the solder terminals of it to be get loose contatecd. Normally these loose soldering contacts are very difficult to detect, as they will be microscopically small. Just resolder all the suspected solder points by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjecent solder terminals. You must have a concept of soldering to do this work. If his also does not help you, either replace the Audio Output IC ir replace the audio output card.
If you want a service manual of the same model of Proton TV, send your email address to me by FixYa. I can't send it to you by this mail, as it does not allow me to upload PDF files with it. OK.

The speakers are not working. if i turn up the volume, I can hear static noise, but do not get any sound. tv speakers are on. I played around with the audio settinds and all the different hdmi ports,...

Hello
There are two possibilites for this fault. The first one is, damaged speaker voice coil and the second one is damaged audio output IC. To confirm it you have to open your TV. Speakers can be checked without removing them from the cabin fittings. Check them with the helap of a multimeter; set in OHms range. You can alos check it with a standard torch cell also. Connect the two terminals of the torch cell to the two terminals of the speaker [intermittantly, not constantly]; will produce a 'thumb' sound; if the speaker is good.
Connect the 'audio out socket' of the tv, with any other audio equipment, and listen whether there is sound form the external audio equipment, like amplifier or so. If there is sound from the external audio equipment, and no sound from the internal speaker of the TV, and the speaker is good, surely the 'audio output IC' of the TV is damged and should be replaced. OK.

Terrible sound, sounds like speaker blown. Got it 2 days ago.

If this is a "new to you" TV, keep reading. If it is a brand new TV, I'd be on the phone to the store to have a replacement ready for delivery / pick up. You do not want to be repairing a TV that is 2 days old.

The first thing to do is determine if the distortion is coming from the speaker or if it is on the signal going into the speaker. Do both speakers sound distorted or only one?

You didn't include the model number of your TV, so I can't speak to specifics. Look for a terminal on the rear of the set identified as "speaker" or "external speaker". If provided, there will be one set of terminals marked for the left and one for the right external speaker.

Connect a speaker directly to the terminals marked for either the left or right speaker (connect to the one that sounds distorted if only one of the built in speakers works correctly - other wise pick either speaker terminal pair.). Speakers that have RCA plugs on them, have built in amplifiers, require batteries or or to be plugged in to an outlet should not be connected here.

Alternatively, you could connect a pair of stereo headphones or earplugs if your TV offers a jack for them. It would have a headphone icon or say "phones" above the jack if one is provided.

Once connected, turn the TV on, lower the volume and set the TV to enable the external speakers / disable the internal speakers. This may be done via menu item selection or a small switch near the speaker terminals. Slowly increase the volume to listen to the quality or clarity of the sound coming from the speakers you connected. If they sound distorted, the problem lies with the audio amplifier in the TV. If they sound OK, then there is a problem with the speakers in the TV.

If you can't return the TV, you may have to see about using the left and right audio line out or HDMI jacks to send the audio to an external amplifier and speakers to hear the program.

I hope this was helpful and good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.
