Re: i cant put a tape in!
When mechanism pops out to eject, wait until it completly comes out, deattache battery immediately, and Pull lever as per below mentioned picture. Cassette door will be open and place cassette. Close it and attache the battery. Camera is ready to Record or Playback.

Hi Russell, Sound to me like another cam operated mechanism. I just had a Nakamichi brought to me the other day with the same symptoms. If you turn the unit on and listen closely, you might hear a motor running inside, this motor is running because it is trying to initialize the deck mechanism. The reason it can not is that a cam belt that goes from the motor to the pulley that operates the cam is loose, broken or turned to goo. These belts just do not pop in and often require the deck be taken apart a ways to get to the belt. There is also lubrication and cleaning of old grease out of cam gears and slide plates. This is where a Technician is needed. I am in the Chicago area in case you need my help- If you are in New Jersey I can give you the name of another business. Please advise of your location and we can go from there. firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi what has happened is when you pressed play the tape head that reads the tape has come up as normal this locks the door as you cant open it when its playing but instead of the tape head releasing and going back down into start possition it has become jammed in the tape itself. You have two options turn off at mains and give it a gentle bang a couple of times this might free the tape and let the head go back to start possition its upto you how hard you tap it but doing this usually works and will allow you to get the tape out failing this then its going to be a case of stripping it down till you can get access to the tape head and be able to free it from the tape allowing door to open let me know how you get on ok and if you need further assistance
-make sure that your tape is clean and dry -clean the tape head inside the tape deck if you have a video head tape cleaner *tape head: the one that reads the tape inside the camcorder.its the metal thing at the bottom inside the tape deck. -or you can use a soft and dry Q-tip to clean it(dont use any liquid cleaners) *or if confused where the tape head is....just clean all metal parts inside the tape deck and make sure you do it lightly with a soft dry Q-tip.
I have a sony cam myself. If the cam is empty, you open the outer door(swings out), and the load/unload mechanism rises up and pops open allowing tape insertion. When a cassette is placed into the mechanism, you press where it says "push" and then the drive pulls the tape down and into the unit. Then the outer door is closed and you're ready to tape. IF YOU PUSH DOWN ON THE TAPE WHILE IT'S BEING PULLED INTO THE UNIT IT WILL STRIP GEARS INSIDE. The gears are made of nylon to prevent serious damage to motors and other circuitry. This transport setup cannot be forced at all. If any type of mis-alignment occurs, the mechanism is supposed to stop and back up--allowing the problem to be corrected. If it is damaged, the cam must be repaired. There is critical timing involved in replacing the tape carriage.---Rick
This is because the tape carriage is not able to take the tape fully into the threaded position. If you have young children in the house, remove the lid & check that there are no "objects" inside. If not, then the deck mechanism is possibly out of alignment & would need to be repaired.
You need to take out the cassette deck from the car. open the cassette deck by removing the various screws, once open, there is a small plastic gear which you need to wind manually which will slowly release the cassette.
Yes i had the same problem ... 1.Put the cassette as far as it
allows... and move the cassette left and right slightly twisting , and
you will activate the mechanism 2.SOON the mechanism gets fully out immediately!!!! remove the battery 3.CLEAN contacts (I'm looking right now on the internet to find where the hell sensors-contacts are) 4.PREY that it works :-)
