I have the same problem, took it back to the shop where I bought it from and he said the sensors had gone, and suggested I buy a new camera, not that happy as the camera is only 2 years old and has been looked after well.

I think your ISO setting is very high or is in default.
Please shift it 100 whent you thaking outdoor snaps in daylight or normal indoor light. It will help you to produce a better photograph.

Too bright pictures

Try doing a test of the same image using different "modes" and compare the results - it may just be that you've got the wrong setting.

Pictures are too bright when shooting outdoors in sunlight

Have you tried changing your settings manually to outdoor? Or adjusted the aperture? You can usually find the aperture settings under the menu button. If not, try adjusting to outdoor conditions and disabling flash. And also, lower your white balance a good bit.

Very Bright Outdoor Photos with lines

The shutter is stuck. The electronic "noise" created by the solenoid trying to move the shutter blades causes the lines on your pictures. The bright outdoor pictures is due to the fact that the shutter is jammed open. You can try tapping the camera on the sides and bottom. This may jar the baldes loose. Failing that, you will have to find a shop that can obtain a replacement lens assembly for your camera.

The LCD screen is hard to see. What should I do?

If the LCD screen is too bright or too dark, adjust the LCD Brightness setting in the Setup Menu. If you are shooting photos outdoors in bright light, move the joystick to the icon showing the sun over shaowed area to turn on Outdoor mode and make the LCD screen easier to see in bright light.
