Question about Canon PowerShot S2 IS Digital Camera
The transfer of camera pictures to the camera is not working. The error message says that the camera is not connected. I tried different USB cables and a different computer but it will not read the camera. Please help! Thank you.
I have similar problems, with other USB devices and a Time Computer.
Sometimes it will only work if the peripheral (eg. MP3 player) is switched on and connected before the computer is booted up. Just a sequence thing ! It may be as simple as that !

I assume your PC has no 'multimedia' slot that you can plug the SD Card into ????
I suggest you buy a USB SD Card Reader .. this makes a lot more sense that using the (stupid, slow, brain-dead) software that comes with most Cameras ..
RE: Batteries. Rechargeable batteries don't last for ever.... if they are more than about a year old they can self -discharge .. however if you have tried new Batteries I would guess the Camera has a fault ...

I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing in transferring images from the Camera to the Computer. I have researched with your model and found that drivers are
not available from the manufacturer. However, most of the Still cameras do not
require driver or software to transfer images now a days.
Once you connect the Camera to the computer, you will get
the Camera as a removable drive under My Computer. You can open the removable
drive to see the pictures stored in the Camera/Memory Card.
If the Operating System installed in your Computer still
needs a driver, you may use the Memory Card slot on the Computer to transfer
the pictures. Please follow the steps to transfer pictures using Memory Card
Reader in the Computer:
Remove the Memory Card from the Camera.
Insert it in the Memory Card slot in the Computer.
Open the pop up window or find out the removable drive under
Copy the required files to a folder in the Computer.
Note : Most of the Notebooks come with its own Memory Card
Slot. If it does not, you may get one from the market without much spending.
Thanks for understanding.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

The LCD screen may display a FILE ERROR message when trying to view a still image on the camera if the image was rotated, modified and overwritten using editing software on a computer. To play images you have taken on the camera, it is recommended that you do not make any changes to the original image files. I suggest that you transfer the images from the Camera to the computer and check if it works. After transferring the images, get the Memory formatted from the Camera and start capturing new images. The edited images will not get displayed in the Camera again. Please try not to edit the images in the Computer without transferring it.
