Sounds like your D: drive isn't a DVD-ROM drive.

Have you been able to run DVDs from that drive before?
- If not, then you probably have a standard CD-ROM or CD-RW drive, which is not capable of reading from a DVD. You would have to purchase a DVD-ROM drive in order to play or copy anything from a DVD.
- If you have, let me know so I can help you further.

Ihave downloaded films onto a pen stick and onto a dvd disc but it will only play on a pc not the tv which I want it to how do I make it copy the files tso I can play the disc on my tv ?

This is due to lack of codec to play the video. In computer there are almost all video codec so it will play the video easily. But in Dvd deck there is not so many codec present . So try to put the video in popular file format like mpeg , dat ,vob etc.

Myproblem is that thr cd drive refuse to play some dvd disc. its shows that there is no disc or it will not respond at all. the version of my powerdvd xp 4.0

It may be hardware problem or software problem. If lense is covered with some dust particle then it some time plays or can not play. so you can easily buy cd drive cleaner as liquid cleaner.

Also some codec may be missing . Install all the codec of video and also try to use cyberlink power dvd latest version. You can easily download from http://rapidlibrary.com

Problems burning dvds, any software, same error

First, stick with DVD's that have worked in the past; Verbatim is the best.

Perhaps the laser needs cleaning. If you have a can of compressed air, open the DVD tray and shoot a few seconds of air in the DVD drive, being careful not to tilt the can. Do not shake the canned air bedore using.
If there is still a problem, use a laser lens cleaner ($13 Radio Shack). It is an audio CD with a row of brushes on it. Turn on your speakers / headphones and follow the instructions. No chemicals involved.

Dvd burner audio problem

your audio is in the wrong format when youve import ed the finished copy your software is trying to play your audio back with the original software but in the copy process another software prog has taken over and copied it in another format you will need to find out what format it was in originaly and what format its playing back in.you can probably solve this by dowloading a prog to match the format it is now trying to play back in. Understanding the problem is only half of it. now you have to find a solution.

Not reading the disc

it normally means that whatever format your dvd was burned with probably had an error when you were burning did you try to work it your computer , it could mean there is a problem with a disk, or that the laser lens needs to be cleaned
