Question about Televison & Video
We have an older Tosiba TV , the picture is now streched . I know this sounds funny but if you watch people on the screen they look like they all have cone heads and short legs! What would need to be fixed and roughly how much would it cost?
Based on your post/description, sounds like a vertical linearity problem. Assuming that it is a CRT type TV (not LCD or Plasma), then this would involve either the vertical IC and/or the capacitor very close to it. Of the two, I would suspect more the capacitor due to age and they tend to loose functionality because of heat over time.
Perhaps if you can post back your general location, there are techs who might be closer to and can quote you more realistically. Just to give you an idea, the capacitor would cost something like PhP 100 in my area (Philippines) that would roughly be 2USD.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
