HP Officejet Pro problem

I have an HP Officejet Pro K5400 printer but I can't seem to install the starter disc it keeps telling me that the disc doesn't support my system which is Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
The Box clearly states that it supports vista. I have tried it on my laptop and desktop pC and get the same messgae on screen

Have you tried downloading the newest driver from HP? What version number is on the disc?

Hi, try this.
go into My computer/ Locate The Disk In the Drive D:-/E:-/F:- et,c.
right click, open/open folder to View.
Locate a file towards the Bottom, installshield Wizard Or setup.exe. or similar, try launching the program from there.
If it does,nt work, or still gives you incompatability warnings, Try START/RUN/DRIVE D:- E:- et,c setup.exe.
If none of the above work, contact hewlett packard customer services for an updated driver, via thier website.

Help with my k5400

It's possible you have one of the following problems:
  • Printhead is faulty
  • The printhead has expired (HP printheads have an expiry date which is written into the chip)
In both of these cases contact HP support to request a warranty replacement (but try the ideas below first obviously :))

  • The printhead hasn't been inserted properly
  • The chip contacts are dirty or soiled in some way
For these last two, try removing the printhead, cleaning the chip carefully with a cotton bud and then replacing carefully.
It's also entirely possible that you've been sold a lemon in which case you need to call the store you bought the printer from and get them to troubleshoot the issue with you and/or replace it/refund your money.

Hope that helps.
