Computer hard drive?

Ihave a Samsung SyncMaster 955SL Comp[uter and it keeps shutting down when I am on the internet. Also, at times it seems to respond very slow. I have checked with my DSL provider and they say everything is okay there. I was told it may be the hard drive. If so, how much does the hard drive for that computer cost?

Hi your problem sounds more like a virus or something similar before you buy new hard drive try downloading spybot search and destroy.
When i had similar problems on friends comp using spybot solved the problem it is a free virus and spyware remover programme just type in a search engine spybot search and destroy
then download it then run it it will then scan everything on your hard drive and this should then list all viruses and spyware and allow you to remove them give it a try let me know how you get on.
As for the price of new hd it all depends on the size speed etc but could cost from $80 upto $250 you can spend a lot of money depending on size of mem hope this is some help to you

Changed my computer password and forgot it cant get on my comp uter what can i do so i can use my computer again ty lexie

First, you can try this method.Start system and press F8 key when Windows is starting up. Then select Safe Mode with Command Prompt and enter. Choose Administrator, the default password may be blank if you don't set the default administrator password before. Then you will enter into doc Command as following.
Type " net user net user xxx 12345 /add " (xxx is the locked account name and 123456 is the new password set on this account). Then you will see the Command Completed Successfully.
Then this method can fully help you remove the administrator password,i highly suggest you this one.
1. Login to a computer that can link to Internet. Download windows Password key from http://www.lostwindowspassword.com and install it on that PC. Note that: there is a .ISO file. Burn the .ISO file to a CD or a USB flash drive.
2. Insert the newly created CD/USB drive to the locked computer.
3. Reboot the locked computer and press'F2'or'Delete'to enter your BIOS setup and then followed the process of instructions. Just a few steps, the old password was removed.

Hello mr_nasty_72,
Your problem could be several things. Your hard drive is either over 90 percent full and the windows swap file is dumping the computer to shut down. the hard drive has a bad spot i it and when the system writes to it, then computer shuts down. Your memory has a bad spot in it and when the file useage of the memory gets high enough and finds the badspot, the computer shuts down due to the error. I would run a memory test program on the memory to ake sure it is not a memory error. Also rin a utility like spinrite on the hard drive and see if it can repair any bad sectors it finde and recovers any lost information on the drive. If your computer is new enough you cn go into the bios setup and look at the system utility for the power and fan system on the motherboard. This will tell you if the power supply is putting out the correct power voltage for the system. Regards, rcampsr

You may have a voltage problem, but it seems more like you have your power-save settings saved wrong. Check those. You may also want to check your device manager to make sure things are malfunctioning causing your shutdowns.

Computer freezing

The shutting down as well as the freezing issue could have been caused by any one or all of the hardware you replaced.......the trick is to change one thing at a time to help narrow it down

Assuming the Ram/HD/PS are new and ok I would look at overheating problems.... is the computer dusty ...look at the Heatsink on the CPU is it clogged with dust and are all the fans working ......use an Air compressor or a can of air from a computer shop to blow the dust out....

Another reason could be a Virus or spyware/malware ....run a full Antivirus/Spyware check ........

do you still have your restore CD? try to fresh restore it and updates everything on that unit again. Often online gamers send you malicious script that crashes your system.
