Question about Nikon D50 Digital Camera
I am not sure why, but the auto focus on my Nikon D50 is suddenly not working. I have tried cleaning the lens, changing the AF/M button back to AF, but it still does not work. When I switch to manual focus the camera takes blurred pictures. What could be the problem? Please help!
I assume the AF/M switch on the body is set to AF as well? This has not been mentioned but the D50 has two drive systems for AF.

Did you or someone you know recently drop the camera?
I have had two of these lenses and both have had issues. One had a similar issue and was repaired under warranty.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps:
-Do you hear anything when you try to focus (motor, etc)?
-Looking inside the viewfinder as you try to focus manually, does the green dot on bottom left ever appear (indicating focus lock)?
-Does lens move when set to "m" and you twist the focus ring?
-If lens moves when you twist, can you see the inner glass "eye" getting closer or more distant to the outer glass on the lens?
-Is A/F assist on? Set to ILLUM? If so, find a darker area and set camera to "Auto". Light should come on to A/F assist indicating the camera body is attempting to focus.
I agree with other poster: take camera to Ritz or other shop and ask them if you can check out a few lenses. Mount them to your camera and see what happens.
